Construction company official is robbed of $11,000 by a man in a JCPD hat and shirt

First the news, then Johnny's question about something not adding up...

A Newark construction company official from Sky High construction, was met in a colleague's home by a man in a JCPD hat and t-shirt (which are illegal for a civilian to wear) who was brandishing an Uzi assault rifle. He was ordered to the ground, tied up and after an accomplice arrived he was robbed of $11,000--$10K in payroll and almost $1K of his own money.

The man said after he was dragged into a bathroom he was able to cut his bonds with a kitchen knife and saw one of the two robbers outside and said he then chased the robber on foot for a short distance before giving up.

OK, first off, and this is important, Police Director Sam Jefferson is reminds residents they can ask police for identification if they are not sure that they're cops.

Secondly, at least one had an Uzi and you chased one or the other unarmed down the street? Was there no danger of the other guy having a gun? That simply seems odd to Johnny. Wouldn't you call 911 first? And, if you're gonna chase the guy, chase him. In for a penny in for a pound.

Also, it's strange it's illegal to have a JCPD hat or shirt while across the Hudson they sell millions of NYPD and NYFD hats and shirts.
