Stop blowing up boats that aren't there!

Johnny followed the story yesterday of a supposed boat off the coast of New Jersey that blew up killing 2 people and seriously injuring 3 more. What kind of a jackass calls this kind of thing in? Johnny is a known prankster and practical joker. He's pulled some really good  ones in his day. This wouldn't ever even be considered. This is shameful. If you called it in and you are reading blogs and news stories and feeling pretty good about yourself today WHY are you feeling good?  Did you know when you called it in it sets this in motion?

"...about 200 emergency personnel and dozens of rescue vehicles combed nearly 650 nautical square miles for about three hours following a distress call about 4:20 p.m."

200 emergency personnel. Do you think them using all the vessels and aircraft to search the 650 nautical miles came cheap? Johnny knows this, you'll be reimbursing the Coast Guard for it if and when you're caught. We're pretty much hoping you do get caught.

So if you're out there thinking you're really clever for this call (and it may also have been some kind of SWATTING situation, we don't know YET) we'll only tell you this:

In a statement Monday night, the Coast Guard said making a false distress call is a federal felony with a maximum penalty of five to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and reimbursement to the Coast Guard for the cost of performing the search.

Sounds like SOMEBODY bit off more than they had thought when they placed the call.
