UPDATE: Firefighters are batting low water pressure and the building in question is the one where pizza place Buon Appetito is located on Grove St.
firefigthers!! went late very later!!!!!! this is really bad, you can even saw on the news!! they get late!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm listening to JCFD radio chatter and this is still a very dicey situation. The flames were so high they probably couldn't get in right off.
ReplyDeleteThe JCFD is extremely understaffed!! Ask your mayor the reason five fire companies are place off duty every day!! He is playing Russian Roulette with the lives of every citizen of our great city!!
ReplyDeleteWell honestly that's a pretty contained little area and I dunno how many firefighters you could squeeze into such an area but a fair issue to discuss after the fire is out, staffing levels.
ReplyDeleteI ate lunch at Buon Appetito today around and left around 1:30, right as the fire was breaking out. Damn.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, It's called survivor's guilt ;)
ReplyDeleteWas that first post written by a 3 year old? Russian Roulette indeed. If there was another fire across town say in West Bergen or Greenville there would be no JCFD companies to fight it as they are fully exhausted at this Box downtown. Who would fight it, Bayonne?! They don't even fight their own fires. Therefore jeopardizing the lives of many more countless civilians and city property. 5-6 more companies and you'd be able to knock down or at least contain another fire across town to minimal devastation and life loss. Ask your Mayor Fulop about the taxpayer money paid to the ex-Chief of Dept. of FDNY to come over and do an evaluation of the JCFD and how he stated he couldn't believe what they did with what they had. Rigs understaffed, rigs unmanned, companies browned/blacked out, complete and utter lack of manpower, but he will never release that file because it did not match what him and Shea wanted to hear!!!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 4:25pm, I'm with you in that I want a well staffed best-in-the-business firefighting crew in my city exactly for days like this. As always the bugaboo is always paying for it. If you have ideas let's hear them!
