Don't you just love it Jersey City when someone thinks they know better than you when it comes to where you live? Now we're used to city planers and city council members bending over for developers here. Developers promise bullshit they never intend to deliver in the first place to get the city official to grab their ankles, which they do. That happened here of course, and of course it flew directly in the faces of residents who said they didn't want or believe in the add-ons being promised by Developer X in getting a free seven new stories added (Bringing the building total to 15 floors) to a neighborhood with a seven story limit.
This story has a new twist kids:
“On the whole I think it is good for Jersey City and good for the neighborhood there so I vote aye,” said City Council President Rolando Lavarro.
So he knows Better about Paulus Hook than Candice Osborne who lives a stone's throw from this abortion of a project and voted no. Good old Rolando, he knows better than Candice. Riiiiiight. No doubt he's lived in the neighborhood and raised his family at that end of Paulus Hook for years. It's arrogant and disrespectful to act like you know what's best for someone else especially after hearing you're wrong from actual taxpayers who live in Paulus Hook. We hope the voters there DO remember this.
Hear this now again probably for the first time Rolando, as a gentleman said in the meeting:
One man noted “We voted in a whole new council for a reason.”
He said if a plan is in place it should be left alone because people buy their homes because they like the neighborhood. “The simple thing is, don’t sell us out. Because we may vote you out.”
Strike One, Rolando.
