Wow, Johnny was catching up on some reading and found cities and towns in the Garden State levy a fee against homeowners who want to have a garage sale. What's the point in that? Basically finding another way to skim off of homeowners? Some places charge as little as $5 but that's part of the point, how is a city going to pay for anything let alone balance a budget on a $5 fee? One moronic city government in Bloomfield has upped their fee to $25. Way to really show you hate your residents. A lot of garage sales that $25 fee would be half the proceeds. It's actually cost you more to have the garbage men pick that up in time and labor.
What idiocy. Are the police required to stand around and make sure nothing gets stolen? Are the local firefighters required to stand around in case a fire breaks out? If you're not committing local resources to the private sale, you're just stealing money from homeowners.
