Now here's a great idea for a Kickstarter campaign...
The Village Halloween parade! First off, what is Kickstarter? It's a crowdfunding idea on the web. Like minded individuals come together to put their money where their loves are and if enough money is raised, success! The people who put on that wonderful halloween parade in the West Village were devastated by Superstorm Sandy last year and they need help. If you are a fan of the parade and you'd like to help out here is the link for you to follow and maybe make a donation.

All New York City parades will now be 25% less good
We know, that's some fine grammar.
It's true, in order to save money, the powers that be in NYC are cutting all parades back 25%. As to your first question, YES, even the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is the ONE parade that should never be cut, it's iconic. Yes, a lot of other parades have been around a long time and are a really good time but the Thanksgiving Day parade? Cut back? Pshaw. This parade pays for itself in the sheer number of people lining the route and popping in and out of stores the entire time. There are a few other parades Johnny would hate to see scaled back, like the West Village Halloween parade but for all that is good and right with this world, NYC don't trim back the Macy's Parade.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled snowstorm.

So, peeps, where is a good spot to catch the NYC halloween parade?
Anybody have some favorite spots they'd like to share or some tips on getting to a spot to see the costumed craziness? Let's face facts, Halloween over the last 10 years or so has been totally taken over by adults and it's now an adult holiday more than it belongs to kidlets anymore....
