Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with THE EURYTHMICS!

What else is there to talk about tonight Jersey City and the surround? It's been raining since dawn and it just keeps getting worse. Tonight's Music Series is hereby dedicated to the rain and all the great music dedicated to rain or rain as a metaphor. Dozens of songs that come to mind but we've only got three and for example while Johnny hearts the song 'Purple Rain' that was played a lot recently for obvious reasons so we'll put that in our proverbial pocket for another night.

Is there a more haunting video about the rain than The Eurythmics 'Here Comes the Rain Again'? Feel free to think on that while we kick things off with Annie and Dave and a little lighthouse keeping.

Remember when this hair style shocked 'Murica back when?

Oh the rain, it will continue...

Apologies to Hank Williams there. Yes weather fans, rain, sometimes as heavy as 2-3 inches per hour could fall today in some of these storms and could lead to flooding in "urban areas with poor drainage *cough HOBOKEN cough*. That is why a Flash Flood Watch in effect until Tuesday, 8:00 PM EDT for the Jersey City Desk viewing area.

You kids be careful out there.

OK, sounds like we need to discuss this Tropical Storm Andrea

Hey we're getting an 'A' storm and not the lower alphabet lettered storms like Sandy and Irene. Tropical Storm Andrea is expected to being its long drenching trek up the east coast today from the greater Boca Grande Florida area (Hey Miller's Marina, The Pink Elephant and the Laff-a-Lot it's been a while!). The first parts of the storm may arrive later tonight and Friday and Friday night being complete washouts. A possibility of four inches of rain from this storm is what makes it so dangerous. Water water water and 40 mph winds. If you live in a low lying area, or you need to MOVE THE PATH TRAIN CARS TO HIGHER GROUND hint hint, now is the time to prepare. Keep and eye to the sky and an ear to your teevee or radios.

Johnny's out back with the interns building an ark

So we won't be in the offices too much today. Carry on Jersey City, we'll be back here tonight with the late night thread and an ark to float us all out of Hudson County.

More video as the rain begins to really come down...

Johnny borrowed a friends roof to grab some video of the rain coming down. This may well become Johnny's outpost tonight, in a nice safe building with friends, while interns are lashed to poles.

Flood warnings, high wind warnings, and lots and lots of rain

You're looking at the best part of the day campers. It gets suckier and suckier all day until we get to 5 pm when the deluge hits. Our fair city may get 2-3 inches of rain in about 4 hours tonight along with the capper to any Jersey City storm, 50 mph wind gusts. Sounds like a good excuse to stay in this evening and watch some NHL playoffs.

From Wunderground:

Coastal Flood Warning in effect from 6 PM this evening to midnight EDT tonight...
Flood Watch in effect from this evening through late tonight...
Wind Advisory in effect from 7 PM this evening to 1 am EDT Sunday...

Hooray. It might be time to sacrifice yet another weatherman or woman into the fires of Mt. Secaucus.
