The biggest respect is saved for the biggest heroes. Sadly, we're getting no leadership like this from our elected leaders, especially now. No honor, no sacrifice, certainly not like those who stood for this nation in the darkest corners of this globe, sometimes bleeding out and dying for all Americans in perpetuity with nobody there to help or thank them. Johnny's a very liberal guy but in his reading of the American contract you do not now or ever turn your back on a veteran. That is an iron clad contract. Today is about those vets who gave it all for all of us.
Thank you.

Happy Memorial Day!
This is the one holiday Johnny always felt odd yelling Happy in front of. Have a soul-searching Memorial Day, have an introspective Memorial Day or maybe have a reflective Memorial Day. Honor our veterans and those in their support who have given their everything for our Republic. Honor our servicemen and women who are with us and lift them up. But do take time to ask how and why we got to the point that using them was needed. Are we using them as our blood and treasure or as sledgehammers? Respecting them also means using them only when needed and we'd think every vet would agree with that.

Here is a list of the Memorial Day services around Hudson County
Jersey City will kick off the Memorial Day weekend tomorrow, Wednesday May 23 at 9 am, with a memorial service at the foot of Washington St. at the Korean War memorial.
Other events in Hudson County can be found here. It'll be a wonderful weekend around town so make sure you get out to a parade or Memorial Day service or simply take time in your own way to thank our Vets and those still serving our nation for all they do.

Happy Memorial Day
Especially to all the veterans who either give so much of themselves for the rest of us or have paid the ultimate sacrifice helping keep this great Republic safe.
We are in your debt.

The Jersey City Desk would like to take time out to pay homage to our Veterans today
The ones who sometimes fight to make sure Johnny can run his mouth. The ones who have laid down their lives in some horrible places on this earth to defend freedom. The vets who are wounded, and yes sometimes disfigured so that tyranny can be defeated in the dark corners of the world. The ones who have suffered frostbite at Valley Forge, the ones who have dealt with malaria carrying mosquitoes in Vietnam, the ones who have fought disease and heat all through the Pacific in World War II.
Today we thank you, we really really thank you.
Today we thank you, we really really thank you.

So, who's going where for Memorial Day?
Don't forget, we're going to need SIGNED permission slips JCD readers before you go anywhere. You can turn them into Kiki at the front desk.
