When only a news roundup will do
Wake the kids and phone the neighbors, it's a Jersey City Desk news roundup
* A possible carjacking in broad daylight at Grand St. and Pacific St. was smartly thwarted by a Jersey City cop's wife
* Nine cars near Neptune and Romar were damaged in a wild hit and run situation
* Yet another high rise closes streets due to falling debris. Catch nets and smarter workers might solve this sort of thing
* A man was pulled off the tracks by an NJ Transit cop and instead of gratitude he continued to resist arrest and continue fleeing until his capture
* Finally, a Jersey City man smashed his SUV into the back of a JCPD police car while busily playing PokemonGo. So much for getting excercise

* A Newark police officer chased down a suspect on horseback and made the collar. Go Dudley Do-Right go!
* The Port Authority CAN go ahead and raise tolls on bridges and tunnels in December after all.
* A Manhattan Federal Judge said a woman in North Bergen can KEEP a stolen 7.4 carat diamond, yowser.
* Eli Manning told Tiki Barber to shut his talk hole about Giants coach Tom Coughlin.
* Paul Mulshine has a great article on the Orwellian world of driving in New Jersey.
* And finally, since the weed is legal in Washington state why not have a YouTube video of three grandmas toking up for the first time.

Happy Tuesday, perfect for a News roundup!

*A large fire at a recycling plant in Jersey City was just brought under control in the last hour or so. Yes, that would be the billowing smoke on the skyline.
* Remember how a LOT of the red light cameras were 'somehow' misconfigured to give out extra tickets? Well Jersey City has more red-light camera issues, the yellow lights are abnormally short it turns out, and that means illegal ticketing. C'mon Mayor Fulop, talk to us about these abominations. Are you for them or not?
* A Linden bodega owner went all Brad Hamilton on a would-be robber who pulled a gun and demanded cash. The bodega owner tossed scalding hot oil on the perp who then stumbled out of the store no doubt to a plastic surgeon.
* Newark Archbishop John J. Myers has now sunk to tossing out threats and hiding behind an imaginary God to fight back against truth to power being spoken over his lack of oversight in dealing with pedophile priests. Sad.
* The Superstorm Sandy task force is out with their findings after last year's storm. Some of the top bullet points are to coordinate regionally on response and prepare for larger, more intense storms going forward.

You know 'em, you love 'em, you just can't live without 'em -- It's a News Roundup Wednesday
*So Steve Fulop, what have you or anybody else on your ticket done to create wealth and opportunity in Jersey City? Don't give us that lame "But we haven't even been sworn in yet," mope. Look at go-getter city councilman elect Michael Yun, he's already made somebody a millionaire.
*Speaking of Fulop, he's planning on putting more cops into the next recruitment class.
*Some businesses down on the shore have taken to putting lines up on their business to show how high the water from Superstorm Sandy got.
*Fully 10% of the bridges we drive on in New Jersey are structurally deficient. Wanna know which ones? Oh and a note to Mr. Christie. Know when things went south for a formerly popular governor in Michigan named John Engler? When he stopped paying for road repairs (after dumping the mentally ill in hospitals out on the streets but that's a story for another day) and to this day carries the nickname "Pothole John" around the Mitten. Things went south in a hurry too. Just saying.
*We'll end with a story commanding a very high 'cool quotient' today. NPR visited a Jersey City recycling plant and you can learn a lot from watching the animated gifs of the process. Johnny learned that his bottles for his beloved Diet Snapple (Raspberry or Peach let's not fight) may come from this very recycling center. Of course none of this will have mattered when the Sun has exhausted the hydrogen in its core in around 5 billion years and becomes a red dwarf, but we can all feel good for now.

* Jersey City spends/wastes over $15 million a year in "longevity pay" for city employees.
* Armed suspects in Union County tied up Target employees and robbed the place without any other Target employees noticing.
* Governor Christie's approval numbers are way up after Superstorm Sandy.
* Authorities had to remove WWII ordnance from a home in southern New Jersey before it went boom.

It's a news roundup kind of day
Damned humid too...
The Garden Sate Parkway where I-95 crosses over is going to be down to one lane for up to six weeks after yesterday's fatal accident. You can read more on this traffic mess and more on the hopes it can be averted quicker than that can be found here.
Pretty much everyone living in North Bergen may or may not have gotten a subpoena.
Calling for a snowy winter here in the Garden State? Be careful, they called for one last year too.
The Yankees crushed the Red Sox 14-2 and in doing so won the American League East title (Again). They will play the winner of the one game playoff between the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles while the Detroit Tigers will play the Oakland A's.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has this list of this year's nominees out. Notable nominees include Public Enemy, Heart, Donna Summer, Rush, Deep Purple and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. No love for Bon Jovi once again this year.
