Red Bulls at home tonight vs Portland

In their last home match until June 27th the Red Bulls are home to the Portland Timbers tonight with the match getting underway at 7pm. If you want to take in some live soccer before the World Cup kicks off in three weeks, tonight is the night to do it. Portland is bringing up the rear in the Western Conference while the Red Bulls are in the middle of the pack in the east. A win tonight could move #RBNY into fourth place.

Take the PATH to Harrison. Get off. Head to the large stadium on your left. Good times!

Internet rumors running rampant the New York Red Bulls may have a MASSIVE announcement coming soon

The internet is churning out rumors originating with SKY Italia that current Barcelona midfielder, Xavi Hernandez, may be joining the Red Bulls after Spain's trip through the World Cup. For those who don't follow soccer Xavi is the playmaking "metronome" or "el architecto" for the best club team in the world, Barcelona and the current World Cup champions, Spain. That's a quality player.

More on this as it develops. Johnny had heard rumors that the new team MLS is trying to prop up in NYC proper, partnered with Manchester City of the Barclay's Premier League, was trying to land Xavi in a huge fan-friendly move. Have the Red Bulls stolen their thunder?

Here's a great time waster for a Thursday morning for football fans

Or maybe just for football fans. Yes we're running both football as you'd call it by reflex and soccer/football for a really cool website called FootballasFootball. All the NFL teams have had their logos re-imagined as if they were a European Football club and the results are quite amazing. We'll just show you one here and by all means follow that link and go see the rest.

This is a public service announcement -- With corner kicks

Are you a soccer fan? Did you know if you have a certain cable plan you can get both FOX Soccer and GOLTV in high def? Maybe Johnny's late to the party but if you're looking for both channels in high definition try channels 1513 and 1512. Yeah, no really, channel numbers in the thousands. Who knew? Johnny just got there quite by accident. Now he can hear the gal's voice on GOLTV say "You are watching (pregnant pause) La Liga..." in high def.

Johnny's got big doings today (and tomorrow...)

And maybe this weekend. If you wanna close those big deals so you can add another death ray around town one must brandish those business brass knuckles and that's what today and the next couple days are about.

You know the routine by now, comment on anything you wanna...

This didn't suck last night that's for sure. When you are a Barça fan you feel blessed you don't ever have to cheer for the thugs at Real Madrid. Victory for Blaugranes!

Free Day!!

It's opening day for soccer in Europe and Johnny's all about that. He cannot be expected after the week he's had to actually put any thought or effort into the Jersey City Desk offices today. Besides the interns are having a rave there tonight and Kiki wanted us all out of the way to decorate.

Johnny may show up at Kiki's rave later tonight but not before he gets his eat on at Standard Grill.

Enjoy this glorious day citizens for tomorrow it rains...

Get your updates on the USA Soccer team warming up for the World Cup down at Princeton

Take some time and get ready for the HUGE World Cup and America's puncher's chance in it with a nice article in today's New York TImes. There seem to be a few injuries on the squad being worked through but nothing as bad as England and Germany are facing currently. June 12 it's the USA vs England in game 1 of the tournament, and it doesn't get ANY bigger than that.

The USA is still living large after their world shocking upset over Euro champion and #1 in the world ranked Spain last year and oh so close upset of Brazil in the final.

The team is practicing in Princton, take a ride down and wish them well...

No doubt Hoboken residents are in awe over their tea and crumpets this morning

Mmmmmmm, crumpets.

Yes, the W hotel in Hoboken has host to perhaps the most overrated sports figure in recent history last night, soccer star David Beckham and his teammates on the LA Galaxy, in town to play the Red Bulls. The super duper extra big media star is in fact at this hour still at the W as screaming teens and women circle the hotel in hopes of getting a look at the English star. Beckham, known for his ability to bend a soccer ball, or make it curve around defenders has been somewhat of a disappointment in international play. How does Johnny know this? He has an email friend in England who says so and she knows her 'footie'.

So you can curve a soccer ball, congratulations. Hope that pays for your wife's copious amounts of plastic surgery.
