Remember the citizen initiative to bring attention to the crime issue here in Jersey City?

They have succeeded in getting two town hall-style meetings with Mayor Jerramiah Healy, Police Chief Tom Comey and several new detectives heading up the new Community Response Team.

Mayor Healy will no doubt get to double down on his "crime is not that bad the FBI says so" theme and tell residents, likely voting residents, it's all in the perception that roils from the media and the blogosphere. That could be a fun point of discussion. Or to a person who has had their house broken into and vandalized it DOES feel like a violent crime.

But back to the good of a citizen initiative. It's good this will be discussed openly and every question deserves an answer, not a spin answer. City council chambers, Thursday at 6pm, City Hall on Grove St.

280 Grove St.

Be there, Aloha.

The Justice Department has filed fraud charges against our Paulus Hook neighbors, Goldman Sachs

Johnny doesn't know the ins and outs of securities The Justice Department says Goldman failed in it's disclosures that were sold tied to subprime mortgage securities. He'll never figure it out. From what he HAS read and what he DOES understand there ought to be villagers with pitchforks and torches outside Goldman Sachs chasing employees to their cars to and from work. Goldman in our opinion committed terrible malfeasance on this nation's economy and then tried to use the confusing nature of the matter to get out of all responsibility.

Your day is coming Goldman, it's coming and the sooner the better....

Smoking gun--Deputy mayor says Healy KNEW illegal funds were headed into his coffers

Indicted Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini said in a superseding indictment that Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy without any doubt KNEW that illegal money was being funneled into his reelection account.

The actual indictment is worded thusly (and Healy is JC Official 1):

It was part of the conspiracy that defendant BELDINI and others received illicit political contributions from the CW in order to fund the Re-election Campaign Committee and the JCDC and to otherwise support the re-election of JC Official 1.

So, our mayor KNEW of these illegal payouts. He KNEW the money was being funneled into his account. So, when is he going to be arrested? When is he heading out to Newark to give up the fingerprints and to do the perp walk?

Mayor Healy, the editorial board here at the Jersey City Desk has been calling for your resignation for quite some time, now we DEMAND it. You WILL be leaving office here. You will do us all the favor of hauling your crooked ass either off to jail or the old disgraced mayors home or wherever it is you wanna go live in shame. You are DONE here.

Again, you can go on your own, you cam be removed in some sort of civil procedure or we can break out the torches and pitchforks and chase you to the Delaware Water Gap.

Steve Fulop, our hero

And by 'our', Johnny means Jersey City.

Tuesday night City Councilman Steve Fulop led a demonstration of over 300 people at city hall to demand the resignation of crooked city council member Mariano Vega. Many in the crowd also were clamoring for the resignation of Mayor Healy who was present at meetings where dirty money was discussed if not given out. Said Fulop at the rally:

"Every single time that we hire somebody's brother, somebody's cousin based on political patronage. Every single time that a contract doesn't go to the lowest bidder. Every single time that an envelope is taken it is a tax that you pay for at the end of the day"

When asked about Councilman Fulop's positions, Mayor Healy who was attending a 'National Night Out' event a ways away from the rally got all pissy and said:

"Tonight is a great opportunity to get the community involved with the Police Department. Attempts to make political hay out of it by some folks with his own political agenda and ambitions, trying to usurp this event ... I don't have a lot of respect for"

What a little tantrum THAT was Mayor Healy. Wanna know the irony of your idiotic words? National Night Out was a way to fight crime. Wanna know what else is a crime? Taking illegal money for favors in government. The only difference is, those crimes happen in broad daylight and there is no need to turn your porch lights on or stand outside against it. Apple Jacks boxes filled with money are passed in the middle of the day, not in the dark of night. Meetings are held to buy influence in the Jersey City government in the diners at lunchtime, not in a back alley or street corner at 3 am.

You are one crooked embarrassment to this city mayor. You and Mariano Vega should step down for OUR sake. We don't need your taint on our city government any longer. The crowds will only get bigger. Next time maybe we bring torches and pitchforks.
