Photo journal of the Newport 10K run through Jersey City this morning
What a grand day for a road race and Jersey City certainly showed it's good side in today's Riker Danzig Newport 10K road race through our fair city. Thousands of runners took on a very fast course and these are their stories. Yes, Johnny dragged his lazy ass out of bed to get out there and bring you dear reader the race coverage you expect from a local no-count blog.

The Newport 10K is tomorrow!
They call it the fastest race of it's kind in the area (of course they same the same thing about the Kentucky Derby, also tomorrow) and the race begins at Newport and winds through town (click the link for a handy map of the course and read about road closures in your neighborhood) until finishing back at Newport for cash and prizes. We're extra excited they are going to make the runners run down 1st St. through the hellish bumps, chuckholes, construction debris and glass from Marin to Washington. Say hi to POS Lloyd Goldman's citizen named "POS Building" when you cross Warren on your left. Wear your heavy soled sneakers kids!

Five and six inches of rain in some spots yesterday and overnight has left us and now we deal with the aftermath. Not quite as bad as the rainiest day ever in the NYC area, back in 1882, the NYT has the coverage from that day here.
