Happy Father's Day!

To all the dads out there (and we also mean you father of Jersey City, Peter Stuyvesant). Though Johnny's dad has passed he'd like to share words of wisdom from good old Russ that hopefully you can use in your own lives:

"I want my hash browns crispy, next-door to burnt. If they're not, I'll send them back."

Johnny's sisters can repeat that line verbatim, too. The moral here? Know what you want and make sure you get it.

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg endorses Jerramiah Healy

In a high profile if not expected endorsement, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has endorsed Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy in his re-election bid. Said Mayor Mike:

“Mayor Healy has been an excellent partner in the effort to eliminate the scourge of illegal guns and he has been a thoughtful leader on economic development and environmental issues that are so important to our region,” Bloomberg said. “America needs mayors like Jerramiah Healy and he has earned another four years to keep the progress going in Jersey City.”

Healy is a founding member on Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns lobbying organization.

So, it's a big bright firework that lights up the news cycle for a night or two but it remains to be seen if it can start tipping the scales in this race.

Just a stray thought. Come later this year the cross Hudson mayors could be Steve Fulop and Countess Chocula. It's been Healy n Bloomie forever.

Johnny has arranged a deal to keep the Peter Stuyvesant statue here in the Jersey City Desk offices

Since nobody can seem to agree on where the statue of Jersey City's founding father, Peter Stuyvesant, Johnny has cut a deal with the Jersey City School District* to hold onto it until the city and citizens agree where it should finally land. It will be delivered this morning in a big old Chevy truck (they had it ready to go in a Toyota but that broke down simply looking at the size of the statue we think).

Johnny and the staff will take good care of it and won't adorn it with silly hats and or sports jerseys (as far as you know) nor will we make it look like Peter is smoking.

*Just go with it

Hey you, yeah you....What do you know about Peter Stuyvesant?

Nothing?! How is that possible? Peg leg Pete INVENTED Jersey City and big swaths of New York City and you know nothing about the man, the legend or the stolen statue (OK stolen here is a relative term)? Heavens, you need to put away all the Super Bowl ads on YouTube away for a few minutes and enjoy an excellent read in our founder, Peter Stuyvesant.

Getting your learn on is cool now in Johnny's Jersey City.
