So is there REALLY a difference between George Zimmerman and the Shomrim in Williamsburg?

OK, unless you live in a cave you know the well told story of George Zimmerman and his killing of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin. You know Zimmerman was a volunteer neighborhood watchman, acting on his own. The Shomrim is a similar Hasidic self-policed neighborhood watch in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The Shomrim act on their own, are not part of a NYC-joint neighborhood watch. They just do what they do.

Fashion student Taj Patterson (who like Martin is African-American) was simply walking home through Williamsburg late one night. He too was approached by an "answers to nobody" neighborhood watch and in both cases the neighborhood protectors set upon their victims. Martin in Florida, Patterson in Brooklyn.

Patterson was jumped by the thug gang members, who beat him and kicked him all while some members of the Jewish neighborhood watch began saying to Patterson “stay down, faggott, stay the fuck down,” Shomrim members and others cheered the beating which would leave Patterson with a broken eye socket, a torn retina, blood clotting, and cuts and bruises to his knee and ankles.

The thugs arrested, Aharon Hollender, Abraham Winkler, Mayer Herskovic, Pinchas Braver, and Joseph Fried, were charged with gang assault and other counts, but not with any hate crimes, authorities said Wednesday. Fried it turns out has had a brush with the law previously when he took a picture of a rape victim (most likely an intimidation tactic) in a case against a powerful Hasidic leader in Williamsburg back in 2012.

So, friends and neighbors, how does this shadowy group, The Shomrim, differ from George Zimmerman? They answer to themselves, they try to find reasons to confront people who are going about their business doing nothing wrong, and violence seems to be their first reaction to a situation. Sorry, until we hear different, The Shomrim IS George Zimmerman, only in Williamsburg Brooklyn.

Macy's is moving the fireworks show back to the East River this year...*yawn*

All the caterwauling and sniveling from New York City residents about the 4th of July Macy's fireworks show over the Hudson River couldn't move old mayor Montgomery Burns to move it back to the East River near the Brooklyn Bridge. However Brooklyn resident and NYC mayor Bill deBlasio leaned on Macy's to move it back. So back it goes to NYC for this year anyway and we're not expecting a great outcry from New Jersey residents over the decision, certainly not the screeching like barn owls shown by New Yorkers back in 2009. New Jersey residents don't get that jacked up over something lasting forty five minutes. The last time that happened was a couple years back when the Devils eliminated the Rangers with a strong third period and an even better one minute overtime:

Dear NYC, we'll be at the beach,
Peace out,
NJ
