A Twin Peaks pageant? Count us in!

The 2nd Annual Miss Twin Peaks Pageant is happening on January 26th at Manhattan's Parkside Lounge (317 East Houston St). There will be a burlesque performance from none other than faux Audrey, Shelly, Crazy Nadine and her silent drape pulls and Norma. Johnny will dress up as Leo and go careening around the bar threatening people, ie Leostein.

So be there for the best in coffee and pie and yes, burlesque.

MTA news you can use

A couple of MTA nuggets to pass along this morning. One useful, the other entertaining. First off the MTA is debuting their new "Subway Time" app which will let you know when the next train is coming. Great idea but terrible name. Really, Subway Time? One expects to see Jared smiling down from the top navbar on the app. Johnny will dash off a list of acceptable new names first of the new year. Joe Lhota's replacement, you be sure to look for that. Currently the app only lists certain lines. Gothamist, make sense of all this:

To be sure, the app is still a work-in-progress. As of today, it only shows arrival times for the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6 trains and the 42nd Street S shuttle, so that soul-crushing feeling triggered by watching passengers swarm the 14th Street Tunnel of Hell as the L train pulls away below is not quite a thing of the past.

Coffee is a staple of Sunday morning around the Jersey City Desk offices or if Johnny is just lazing around home. It's a staple other days too but on Sunday one can enjoy and appreciate our friend Cuppy Coffee. So tell us, around these parts where is your favorite cup of Joe made? Set your clocks ahead one hour tonight at 2 AM

Daylight Savings time begins tonight at 2 am. Set clocks forward and according to the battery lobby change the batteries in your smoke alarms, handheld gaming systems and adult accoutrements. After you make sure you are on time tomorrow for your fire and brimstone churchin', on Monday be on the lookout for sleepy drivers. One of Johnny's favorite reads, the journal Sleep Medicine, says there is an increase in auto accidents the Monday morning after Daylight Savings Time kicks in.
