Tradition holds once again that what Johnny considers the best version of his favorite song by his favorite band plays out the departing year. We do it this way every year and nobody's complained yet.

Before 2014 skedaddles out of here forever let's do what we always do here, since 2007 back in Ypsilanti we've played the best version of Johnny's favorite Rolling Stones song, 'Gimme Shelter' right before midnight. There are a few versions of this gem out there but this has the Jack Nicholson commentary before Lisa Fischer makes us all shake like jelly.

Johnny's got some partying to do and so he's shutting the offices for now. We have a tradition that the last song before midnight is the Rolling Stones playing the best ever version of 'Gimme Shelter'. We are very happy to be able to continue that tradition for another year.

Johnny's gonna go get his top hat and jacket on and go make Merry (insert joke here) with some friends and neighbors and is opening up the rooftop of the Jersey City Desk offices (see Lisa Stansfield video) on this balmy soon-to-be January evening. We always ring in the new year with this brilliant awesome version of the Rolling Stones performing 'Gimme Shelter', this year being no exception. We get more views on this clip than any other throughout the year believe it or not. Last year we had views from Holland and Germany on this one.

New Year's Eve REAL Rockin Eve with The Rolling Stones

No video we ever put up on the old Ypsi City Desk got more love, and more email thank-you's than the Rolling Stones 'Gimme Shelter' clip we put up last New Year's Eve. We're gonna dust it off one year later and give it to you again, here less than one hour from 2009.

This is quite simply an earth shattering version of this song, done in Amsterdam in 1995. By the end you'll all be in love with Lisa Fischer. Mick is at his theatrical best, Keef and Ronnie are simply spot on, and Charlie has never sounded bigger or better.
