Johnny is of course out in Pasadena getting ready to drive a rogue float made entirely of bacon and bust it in the Rose Parade near Colorado Blvd. He'll be back later today to comment on the NCAA football playoffs.

He's fast like that.

And to all our surrounding hamlets, Johnny and the staff here wish you all the best for the upcoming 2017. Johnny is of two minds, how can it possibly we worse than 2016 but then he remembers what happens in a mere 20 more days.

Anyway, all the best in 2017 for all our readers, part-time readers, or those who just stop by for the Music Series from Johnny, and the world's longest serving interns, Kiki and Zoltron.

Now, entertain yourself while Johnny watches his Michigan State Spartans in the Cotton Bowl, a storied bowl game today's going to hopefully be a great first opportunity to play in it. Did you know Michigan State has the highest winning percentage in the Rose Bowl at 5-1? It's a fact.

Oh, and Johnny is also calling Oregon to win the Rose Bowl and he's going to pick Ohio State in an upset over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and give the SEC a really bad weekend.

One more song shall we, before 2015?

Before 2014 skedaddles out of here forever let's do what we always do here, since 2007 back in Ypsilanti we've played the best version of Johnny's favorite Rolling Stones song, 'Gimme Shelter' right before midnight. There are a few versions of this gem out there but this has the Jack Nicholson commentary before Lisa Fischer makes us all shake like jelly.

If you are one who makes resolutions or you feel so inspired why not take a second and share what it is you're looking to improve about yourself. We'll see if there are any similar resolutions after you make them and see if that is where 2013 is headed.

Johnny's got some partying to do and so he's shutting the offices for now. We have a tradition that the last song before midnight is the Rolling Stones playing the best ever version of 'Gimme Shelter'. We are very happy to be able to continue that tradition for another year.
