And to all our surrounding hamlets, Johnny and the staff here wish you all the best for the upcoming 2017. Johnny is of two minds, how can it possibly we worse than 2016 but then he remembers what happens in a mere 20 more days.
Anyway, all the best in 2017 for all our readers, part-time readers, or those who just stop by for the Music Series from Johnny, and the world's longest serving interns, Kiki and Zoltron.

5:32 action news time means Jersey City Desk Action Traffic and Weather
The Jersey City Desk Action Weather Copter is drifting above the GW Bridge and Zoltron aboard the Copter says things are pretty ganked up. He says the upper level heading into New Jersey is dropping bits and pieces on cars below. He said either that or it's Chris Christie mischief again. The sass is strong with that one. The Cross Bronx Expressway, West Side Highway, Major Deegan and other highways across the river have serious serious delays. Fortunately tomorrow morning's commute will only be snowy.

Ye Olde News Roundup
Some breaking news, some odd news, some traffic related news, and of course feel free to chime in with "Teh Snark." (and yes we meant teh -- ed)
*On the breaking news front the mother of the baby found alive four days ago in a trash bag in JC has been arrested.
*Mayor Steve Fulop will go before a very friendly city council and ask for paid sick days for both full and part-time workers for businesses operating in the city. Zoltron and Kiki, both loyal to a fault, are still technically interns here and thus, no paid sick days. Interns for life.
*Former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey should begin his job in Jersey City in, well, about now.
*Something being called an "adaptive traffic signal system" will be used on local traffic lights to help alleviate some of the expected massive traffic shifts when General Pulaski goes partially dark.
*The westbound lanes on 139 are back open after yesterdays game of dodge rubble.
*Disgraced losing city council wannabe Lori Serrano (Solomon Dwek) seemed awfully happy for someone who just got hit with a $1000 fine, 18 months probation and no ability to run for public office again. Yes we know it's nice she has seemingly gotten her house in order but you know what? One is supposed to not sink back into a life of crime. You're supposed to 'rehabilitate' yourself.
*Johnny can smell a nuisance motion in Hoboken a mile city away. Luis Zayas, who represents Angel Alicea, former Hoboken public safety director says Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer somehow perjured herself in a deposition. Zayas used a lot of legalese and lingo and fancy legal phrases you'll be sure to want to write down next time you play lawyer Bingo.
*Finally, the NFL kicks off tonight in an overhyped, overblown, overproduced season opening spectacular when the Los Angeles Rams visit the Houston Oilers.

So, Jersey City, whadda ya want for Christmas?
Yes yes or Hanukkah or any other December holiday. We're pretty inclusive BUT the saying is "What do you want for Christmas?"
Have you been good? If you've been bad this year we have a lovely three story walk up in the flood zone in Hoboken for you this upcoming year.
Tell Santa Johnny and his elves Zoltron and Kiki what you want in comments...

Zoltron just went on a rant through the offices vaguely referencing Iraq and Iran
Now, there's nothing to fear, he's been with the Jersey City Desk since the beginning. Thus far, since nobody had their cellphones out the local news are thankfully not camped outside Zoltron's house. He just ran out of the intern offices babbling and ranting and talking about Iran and Iraq and communal living and said something about Jet Blue Airways before getting to the occupied and locked bathroom door outside the bullpen and trying to kick it in.
Since he works here no charges will be filed and we'll all ask for your understanding. If he was just someone off the street and did that he'd be in jail for a good long while...

Intern Zoltron is down in Piscataway this morning
He wanted to see if he could become the Rutgers head football coach for the day as others have seemingly managed to do this week. Zoltron said he'd institute a 4-3 defense and a West-Coast offense in his day in charge.

Tropical storm watches up, check, supplies laid in, check...
Intern Zoltron tied to the top of the Goldman Sachs building with a bucket to measure rain and a video camera, check.
Here we go kids. Tomorrow is shaping up to be quite a windy rainy day here in Cool City with winds in the 25-35 mph range with gusts as high as 50 mph tomorrow night, not too bad considering what could have been with the monster offshore being a category 3 storm.
So we wait but also for the benefits of this hurricane. It's gonna suck the crappy mid 90's and humid weather we've had since July 4th right with it (this was the hottest summer in New Jersey or New York ever recorded). Saturday will be in the mid 70's with lows Saturday night in the 50's. Yes, 50's! Sunday will be in the low 70's with Labor Day a cool 80 and sunny.
It's always sunny in Jersey City, except when it's not.
