Sorry for the late start friends, Johnny had a morning of appointments.
Hoboken's famed music venue, closed late last year is going to reopen as, well, Maxwell's in the same spot. So, it'll be like Maxwell's took a two month vacation. Click here and get some local news that doesn't involve the Super Bowl or what color scarf Peyton Manning wore to breakfast.

Farewell and adieu Maxwell's
Johnny obviously wasn't around for the halcyon days of Maxwell's but he knew of it even back in Michigan. It's one of those iconic places good bands go to work on their craft. It was a real rock and roll joint. Sadly last night was Maxwell's last night in existence as higher rents and a few assorted other issues have come to this, a final retrospective on Maxwell's and the goings-on last night.
But wait, before you put the last shovel of dirt on Maxwell's, there is this, a possibility that it will go on in some form in....wait for it.....Jersey City. Maxwell's now former co-owner and booking agent Todd Abramson said he thinks that Jersey City might just be where the ghost of Maxwell's might just turn up:
"My sense is that there would be much more support for what I do in Jersey City from both residents and the city itself than I'm finding in Hoboken right now."
White Eagle Hall is the spot being looked at (337-339 Newark Ave.) and here's hoping a deal can be worked out and good live music can once again captivate a new generation of listeners whether it's called Maxwell's South or Space Punk Palladia®, the music is what's important.

Today screams for a news roundup
Actually it does. Lots of little stories that add up to BIG infotainment over coffee and bagels.
* Some flash in the pan named Bob Dylan performed at Pier A last night in the Big FuHo. Hoboken FD said that twelve people got their 99 Woodstock on and were treated for too much something or other. The fun part in this was watching Dylan's hosts mock him outright by doing their best impersonations.
* While we're in Hoboken this morning a retrospective: Maxwell's -- The Microbrew Years Killed the Place.
* Liberty Humane Society is fixing things up after a $15,000 grant from the Canyon Creek Ranch Better Way Project, a national campaign that assists pet organizations like as Liberty Humane Society. The money will help repair Superstorm Sandy damage and they're also getting more than 8,000 pounds of Canyon Creek Ranch dog and cat food.
* Healy allies are angry because new mayor Steve Fulop (who WON the election) used his clout in getting Dana Scott Eisenberg, a Regent Street man who volunteered on Mayor Steve Fulop's campaign, elected chair of the Jersey City Parking Authority Board of Commissioners. News Bulletin to the butthurt Healy folks. Elections have consequences. Now be gone with you.
* Dweedledumb and Dweedledumber robbed a bank in Fairview with a BB gun and a knife, left a trail of cash as they ran into North Bergen after which one carjacked someone and couldn't get the car in gear so naturally drove directly into a building, like ya do.
* Oh, by the way, The Port Authority pissed away $60 million of your tax dollars by insisting on paying higher insurance premiums than anyone would ever pay.

Famed music venue Maxwell's in Hoboken will be closing at the end of July
The famed FuHo club has a long history of being a go to spot for Hudson County rock and rollers for a very long time. Todd Abramson the Maxwell's booking agent and co-owner said they could have renewed their Hoboken lease but decided it was time to leave with the changing nightlife trends of the Mile Square City. Said Abramson:
"But after much thought, given the changing nature of Hoboken and the difficulties of trying to run a business in this town, we decided it was time."
So long Maxwell's, but before you go maybe you could get with Roose Bolton and Walder Frye and have a couple wedding events in there before you close.
