Jersey City has a footbridge again into Liberty State Park

And what a bridge it is. The new Ethel Pesin Liberty Footbridge, in honor of the wife of Liberty State Park founder Morris Pesin, was dedicated Friday by Mayor Healy and others. Healy said as far as the old bridge went Superstorm Sandy actually helped:

"It might have been a favor in disguise," Healy said. "This new bridge will make it so much easier for the citizens of Jersey City to access the great Liberty State Park."

To use the bridge to Liberty State Park find Jersey Avenue, go south, Yahtzee!

Mayor Healy got guns off the streets, Mayor Fulop will face another scourge...broccoli

Now the police report didn't say if this was broccoli with melted cheese on top because that would probably have a much higher sentence but we do know that broccoli in Jersey City has become the new designer weapon of choice. Trendsetter Themyra Pridgen was booked when after a dispute with her adult daughter, she allegedly threw hot water and broccoli at her. See there, perfectly good broccoli used as a cudgel.

We don't want to get hit with broccoli Mr. Fulop. Seriously. We know you have other priorities but we just can't be walking down JFK going to Journal Square and have angry florets suddenly thrown in our faces. We can't be walking our dogs in Hamilton Park and be pelted with stalks.

Johnny's advice? Put a top man on it on day one. We have just the guy...

Mayor Healy's speed trap/red light camera is back at Washington and Bay St.

Do be wary drivers of Jersey City, Mayor Healy's plan to balance city spending further out of your paycheck is alive and robbing you in the Powerhouse Arts District this morning. And yes, Mayor Healy does get the blame for this as he was the one who got himself addicted to the cashflow. If any of you Fulop supporters are snickering right now STOP. Your candidate can't seem to take the time to return Johnny's THREE outstanding calls to Mr. Fulop's office about what he'd do about the cameras were he to be elected Mayor. So far Steve can't be bothered to return a constituent's call. If this is how he blows people off before he becomes mayor we might be in for a long four years should he win.

Johnny's an interloper and as we all know interlopers are liable to say craaaaazy things...

Craaaaazy things like "Hey, Freeholder Jeff Dublin, Johnny would like to see things from your point of view but he can't seem to get his head that far up his ass." WHOA, an unfortunate comment escapes from another person with interlopers disease.

Mr. Dublin takes a very dim view of what he calls, well here, here are his glorious words at the Mayor Healy re-election kickoff:

“This young man wants the title of the mayor but not the job of the mayor,” Healy said. “Get out to vote so that, as (Freeholder) Jeff Dublin said, Jersey City can remain for Jersey City, not some newcomers, some interlopers who don’t know the city, don’t care about the city, and want to use the city for their own personal ambitions.”

So, according to Freeholder Jeff Dublin, Johnny's an interloper as are a lot of the other unwashed, uneducated newcomers who might you know, ask questions about how the current model doesn't work. While some lucky townies may have latched onto all the government jobs (and Jeff did you know some people around here actually draw multiple government-related paychecks?), it's up to a lot of us noobs and yes, interlopers to work hard to further OUR personal ambitions all while paying for a shoddy product.

If we're pounding on your doors and calling you out and showing up at meetings to demand answers that shows we the people DO love and care about our city. That's the sound of America at work.

BTW Jeff, have a toast next Thanksgiving to "the interlopers," won't you?

Where are major mayoral candidates falling short in their duty to Jersey City residents? Red light cameras

We already know where Mayor Healy, who brought these thieving abominations to our fair city, stands. The Mayor has drunk the revenue Kool-Aid. He's even got his lackeys out spewing half-truths and downright un-truths.

First off the FACTS about the cameras; they lead to MORE accidents and are often mistimed to trap drivers. Again, FACTS.

Now to hear Healy spokesperson Joshua Henne tell it, you'd think none of the facts Johnny just posted was true:

“Studies show that these safety cameras lower the number of red-light running violations and decrease the most deadly collisions commonly attributed to red-light running..."

Sorry Joshua, you look really bad repeating your crap when Google can quickly show otherwise. But hey, you guys are addicted to the money, yes? Safety's got nothing to do with it. It must be the money. One follow up if we may Joshua, what percentage of the ticket money does American Traffic Solutions take?

OK, so let's listen to the supposed newer and more sensible guy running for mayor. Certainly HE will have an opinion, perhaps different from the guy holding the job he wants.

We're waiting on a call back on that. And waiting.

If Johnny were in charge these things would be gone tomorrow. He'd point out yet again with the use of facts they're never about safety. He'd then have to cover the stupid agreement the city signed to pay a penalty to their American Traffic Solutions paymasters if they end the agreement early. It'd be money well spent. Put police back out on the streets. What's that? We don't have the manpower? Funny, when Occupy Wall Street sent a handful of protesters over to the Goldman Sachs building Jersey City suddenly had hundreds of extra cops, some in boats. It's not money strapping us friends, it's Mayor Healy's priorities.
