A Winter Storm Warning has now been posted for Hudson County and the surround for tomorrow

At the worst possible time for travelers, late tomorrow morning 4-6" of snow will fall in and around the Jersey City area. Anyone who needs to get out of town, this ain't no 1-3 as they were saying yesterday, this is now a serious storm. We're gonna call this one Winter Storm Milton Berle!

Say Jersey City, if you're going to deep fry a turkey Thursday, Musty the Bear reminds you to be safe

Musty the Bear, whose cave is near where the BJ's parking lot meets the Hudson-Bergen light rail tracks at Newport, reminds you to be safe. Musty says these are deep frying no-no's:

*Tossing balls of mashed potatoes at the hot oil like basketball jump shots
*Tossing cranberries at the hot oil like basketball jump shots
*Pretty much don't throw things in the hot oil
*If your turkey overflows the tub and catches your garage on fire, leave it go man, it's gone
*The less people with beers in their hands around the oil tub when the turkey goes down the better
*Get the oil to the proper temperature checking with a cooking thermometer, not the one outside the kitchen window

Musty thanks you and reminds you only YOU can prevent horrible turkey oil burns and garage fires.

It's time to play "Johnny's Best Guess!"

When it comes to this budding nor'easter and how much snow it might drop on the metropolitan Jersey City area, (including NYC) Johnny's best guess is around 2 inches of wet snow.

Please plan your Thanksgiving holiday travel on that.

Get your hot fresh news roundup, get it while it's HOT

* On a personal note, as Dan Levin pointed out on Twitter after Ward E councilwoman Candice Osborne had a cow about a skunk under or near her own porch:

Daniel Levin ‏@DanLevin_inJC  59m
murder left and right, out of control spending continues, NO budget and the only thing concerning downtown is skunks

* Atlantic City has raised property taxes 29% to cover what the failing casinos can't put back into the coffers (though they PROMISED it to get tax abatements). Ironically Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop is in AC today talking to AFSCME workers. No doubt telling them they'll pay more if his wrongheaded 95 story casino at Liberty State Park ever gets off the ground. Casinos in NJ are a bad bet for everyone.

* For long-time New Jersey residents or those who are fascinated by cold cases, a woman living in Florida has finally been charged with the 1991 murder of her son in Sayreville.

* The Port Authority has said "No way Jose" to the charges that they owe Jersey City some $400 million is a lawsuit filed by JC Mayor Steve Fulop.

* Accuweather is predicting early snow for the Garden State, Thanksgiving to be exact. They say a big snowstorm is practically expected around Turkey Day this year.

* Finally, a trip to Jefferson Township New Jersey where a bear has it ALL figured out. People, I'll act like people...

Don't tell us your mind isn't already on Thanksgiving weekend

It was when you got up this morning and realized you had a three-day workweek. So, are you going anywhere or staying put?

It's never too early to start thinking about Thanksgiving

Especially when a huge nor'easter could be bearing down upon us anytime from late Tuesday of next week to Thanksgiving morning. Will it be rain? Will it be snow? Will it be hail? Will it be toads and frogs? Forecasters don't know yet but they do say if this mess hits us it'll screw everything up from travel to parades (could be too breezy for the cool balloons) to the price of cranberries (Johnny has no idea, it just sounded good).

One meteorologist, Chuck U. Farley from down in Cape May, said this storm might bring about the end times.

So let's hope he's wrong...

Check back for more on this developing storm which the Weather Channel will irresponsibly name as soon as it produces wind.

Johnny's an interloper and as we all know interlopers are liable to say craaaaazy things...

Craaaaazy things like "Hey, Freeholder Jeff Dublin, Johnny would like to see things from your point of view but he can't seem to get his head that far up his ass." WHOA, an unfortunate comment escapes from another person with interlopers disease.

Mr. Dublin takes a very dim view of what he calls, well here, here are his glorious words at the Mayor Healy re-election kickoff:

“This young man wants the title of the mayor but not the job of the mayor,” Healy said. “Get out to vote so that, as (Freeholder) Jeff Dublin said, Jersey City can remain for Jersey City, not some newcomers, some interlopers who don’t know the city, don’t care about the city, and want to use the city for their own personal ambitions.”

So, according to Freeholder Jeff Dublin, Johnny's an interloper as are a lot of the other unwashed, uneducated newcomers who might you know, ask questions about how the current model doesn't work. While some lucky townies may have latched onto all the government jobs (and Jeff did you know some people around here actually draw multiple government-related paychecks?), it's up to a lot of us noobs and yes, interlopers to work hard to further OUR personal ambitions all while paying for a shoddy product.

If we're pounding on your doors and calling you out and showing up at meetings to demand answers that shows we the people DO love and care about our city. That's the sound of America at work.

BTW Jeff, have a toast next Thanksgiving to "the interlopers," won't you?

We'd like to tip our cap to The Iron Monkey here in Jersey City

Every Thanksgiving for the last 15 years The Iron Monkey (99 Greene St.) has offered Thanksgiving dinners to the needy, homeless or whomever else may be in need of a great free no questions asked meal. Former Iron Money general manger Tara Werner said the kitchen and staff are all volunteers and they were able to serve more than 150 dinners yesterday. We'd also like to tip our caps to the following local businesses who also gave of themselves to make The Iron Monkey dinner a success; Made With Love Bakery, Starbucks, the New Jersey Beer Co., and the Restaurant Depot.

Thanks to all involved for making our city a better place to live.

Thanksgiving dinner, your MUST haves

As much as you'd like to say you're not already thinking ahead to Thursday we know better. So while you're daydreaming about that big meal what is the ONE thing (besides turkey, potatoes and stuffing/dressing) you HAVE to have on your table or Thanksgiving just isn't Thanksgiving?

State your case foodies!

So, people, real cranberries or those from a can?

Let's get this fight started early this year. Also, feel free to tell us what dishes make YOUR family's Thanksgiving great.

Hey kids, Johnny just got hold of some HEINOUS information...

Toys R Us that usually gave their employees Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter off is now going to be OPEN for business on Thanksgiving to give them a competitive advantage over their rivals who wait for the day after Thanksgiving for those Black Friday sales. According to the Consumerist website, the higher ups at Toys R Us are ready to sacrifice their employees day off (you didn't actually think the people who made this decision were going to work on Thanksgiving did you?).

HEINOUS, shame on you Toys R Us.

Everyone, this is just GREED. Too much greed. How much money is ever enough? Now you're going to f*** over your employees who were going to face down mobs the next day with another day of fighting the mob.

Johnny is asking everyone nicely, DO NOT shop at Toys R Us this year for the holidays. Sooner or later somebody has to stand up to this abuse of the American worker. Shouldn't THEY get to spend the holiday with their families and friends like the rest of us? The answer is yes, they should. Toys R Us pulls this crap then next year it's Best Buy, Macy's, Sears, and every other company.

Johnny will bludgeon the first person in comments who tries to play devil's advocate by saying 'yeah but if you boycott them they will lose money and those people won't have jobs.' Money is not everything. If the President of Toys R Us and the VP's and Regional Managers and District Managers want people to work that day I suggest they start with themselves. If you draw a SALARY at Toys R Us, volunteer to work or everyone should stop shopping at Toys R Us until the end of 2009.
