Let's talk breakfast, the most important meal of the day

So, Hudson County is blessed with not one but two ultimate pancake/breakfast places. The venerable Brownstone Diner and Pancake Factory here in Jersey City (home to crooked politician payoffs over eggs and snausages) and the new Stacks of Pancake House and Cafe in Hoboken. The newcomer in the Mile Square City promises a more expanded menu soon and will add gluten free pancakes soon. We've gotta say we still like the selection at the Brownstone just a tad better which is to be expected. Johnny's gonna have to hit the Stacks of Pancake House and Cafe ASAP before passing taste verdicts.

A pancake breakfast to help Norrice Raymaker continue her court battle against Nidia Lopez

Look, the Jersey City Desk has been quite clear in it's disdain for Nidia Lopez's antics in trying to benefit from living in Florida for the tax issue and not paying taxes here in Jersey City while voting FOR more taxes for the rest of us. Well the person who is fighting the good fight to once and for all prove Lopez is a Florida resident and unable to legally and properly serve as the Ward C councilperson, Norrice Raymaker, is holding a pancake breakfast to raise money to continue her legal battle.

If you'd like to help her cause or are looking for a syrup injection system, the website www.onejerseycity.org can help you buy tickets to Zap's Bar and Restaurant, 153 Oakland Ave. for this Sunday's event. From 10 til noon you'll be able to drop $15 for the cause ($10 for seniors while kidlets 10 and under wolf down Johnnycakes--love that name--for free) and get your eat on.

New Yorkers apparently call to complain about a better smelling city

Over 30 callers to NYC's 311 info line called to complain about a sweet smell that was drifting from the Upper West Side, across Central Park and into the Upper East Side. One person called from Queens. New Yorkers described the smell as a mixture of hazelnut and pancake syrup.

This very smell was reported in 2005 and NYC officials 'blamed' it on a possible smell wafting in from a New Jersey food processing plant.

Making New York City smell like syrup and hazelnut? Instead of complaining they should be thanking the Garden State.
