You want to be part of the new hot foodie scene? Brothers and sisters you're standing in it

Mayor Fulop tweeted out this story from the New York Daily News this morning where they say about Cool City and we quote:

'Jersey City is emerging as the hot new foodie destination in the NYC area'

Damn straight. We don't have much use for the Daily News but they are spot on (if not a few months late) with this story. They concentrate on a new restaurant in a very familiar place. The restaurant will be called Talde, the vision of Dale Talde, best known from Bravo’s “Top Chef” and his well-reviewed eponymous Park Slope eatery, with Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri, the stars of HGTV’s “Kitchen Cousins. The site? It's the old JCPD headquarters at 8 Erie (and a sidenote, 8 Erie is being transformed by Jersey City construction magicians Brunelleschi). Gina Pace's fine article also talks up Satis, Marco and Pepe, Barcade, Razza, Taqueria, and Thirty Acres. One thing Gina, you said "Apparently all those years of “sixth borough” jokes have finally rubbed off on Jersey City," in the story. See, we never took/take that Sixth Borough thing as a joke, so the joke's on you. Jersey City, let's also not forget the gems not spoken of in the article, especially India Square where quite a few New Yorkers go to eat on a Saturday night.

So Johnny gets here and almost immediately this city sets about creating the gilded age in Jersey City food. You can't beat that with a stick. So Johnny's culinarilly (it is now) inclined readers, what say you? Have you been to any of the aforementioned restaurants? Care to share a review or two in comments? The Mayor of Manhattan gets roundly (and rightly) booed in the Rockaways St. Patrick's parade

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who long ago gave up even pretending he represents the parts of the city not named Manhattan was roundly booed at the Rockaways St. Patrick's parade yesterday. Bloomberg tried to mitigate the cascade of boos aimed directly at him by hiding in and among the sanitation workers who were front and center trying to help the locals. That's just cowardly. THOSE guys were heroes to these folks Mayor Mike. You get right out front of the parade and every St. Patrick's parade hereafter, you get out front with your police detail and see what the people really think of your third term.

Know what was even more embarrassing for his highness? Mayor wannabe Countess Chocula (Christine Quinn) dropping back way away from Mayor Michael Bloomberg after the boos started. Of course she said that was the plan all along said spokesvampire Eric Northman.

A fine bit of reporting on the fact that some local hospitals and hospital staff are engaging in coverups when patients are ignored, hurt, or die

The New York Daily News has a fine piece today about the problem with local hospitals playing CYA after patients are ignored for care, injured by doctor hacks, or die. Records are being changed after the fact, cover-ups are employed to protect the hospital, and official reports are being falsified.

Here's a hook to get you mad enough to go read it:

Logs for a respirator were changed after staff failed to notice it wasn't turned on. The patient died.

Again we don't get too involved in national issues but these are the very excuses opponents of a possible national health care plan are using as scare stories that would come to pass if any kind of Obama plan is passed. No folks, they're happening NOW.
