The polls are now open Jersey City, get out there and VOAT!

Sorry for the trollish spelling for the more commonly used word vote. Jersey City is electing two city council candidates today from a field of close to 906 candidates (OK, 17).

The Jersey Journal says this eclectic bunch of candiates cuts quite a wide swath through the community demographics:

The group includes three current council members, a former council member, a former mayoral candidate, a former council candidate and a handful of activists who can be seen regularly at council meetings railing against the administration.

We don't make endorsements so make sure you read up on who is who, who supports the mayor, who opposes the mayor and a good idea might be to see where the candidates stand on the dangerous Spectra Pipeline.

And it's a big primary day here in the Garden State. Get out there and make your voices heard, and do it before noon if possible, before the heat wave kicks into high gear...

First time voating in New Jersey just a few minutes ago. It felt great. He hovered over the mayor choice for a while before choosing. Torn right up until the very end.

Election day in Jersey City dawns

Polls are open from 6 am until 8 pm as Jersey City and other lesser municipalities select mayors and city councils today. The Jersey City Desk Editorial Board have a pretty good idea how the mayor's race will end up but we have been wrong once before (but just the once). However, if enough of you good citizens get out and make your voices heard, anything is possible. Trust us, despite their lip service to the contrary, the last thing politicians want is for everyone to be an educated voting populace and one that always votes. They like it when you simply let them do what they want to do without your input.
