Remember this tomorrow

If you are in line to vote when polls close you MUST be allowed to vote. You cannot be turned away. Cannot. Turnout has already been high, even historical in some places in early voting. Garden Staters should expect lines tomorrow. No matter whom you vote for, stay in line.

We'll wait to see how the next elections go before we start patting people on the backs for simply doing their jobs.

Calling polling place issues "egregious", Board of Elections Clerk Michael Harper said there would be changes implemented before the next election. Reports of surly poll workers who were actually hesitant to hand out provisional ballots, poll workers and voters who were confused about where voters should go as well as poll workers sending voters to the wrong polling pace were plentiful. Mr. Harper, before the election reminded voters via the Jersey Journal to go to their regular polling places and if there was an issue to get and use a provisional ballot. The same provisional ballots that weren't being given out by poll workers in what some described as 'malice'.

We have an idea why that might happen but no proof so here's hoping the Hudson County Board of Elections gets their act together before May 2013.

Well Johnny just voted, he hopes you have or will too

First time voating in New Jersey just a few minutes ago. It felt great. He hovered over the mayor choice for a while before choosing. Torn right up until the very end.

Voting machine glitches a possibility tomorrow in Jersey City and Hoboken.

Johnny doesn't know the ins and outs of the entire voting system here in Jersey City and the way some schematics in voting for office make him feel like the old Saturday Night Live character 'Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer': "Your ways of selecting elected officials and offices are strange and different to me" but this one may have everyone goofed up tomorrow. It appears that the voting machines can't correctly decipher how many voters have voted for at least one at-large council candidate and can skew the results to make it look like they can avoid run offs.

The particulars on this are here, but Johnny will be voting in New Jersey tomorrow for the first time. He'll make his first vote for mayor and city council in his new home. He's very political so this will be an enjoyable thing.
