The FIFTH water main break in two days has really started to piss some people off

And by people we mean the mayor and most likely anyone else living in Jersey City. He's just saying what we're all thinking. In a pointed tweet this morning, Mayor Fulop said, and we tweetquote:

"A city our size needs service and care and #respect from service/utility providers. @UnitedWaterNJ #JerseyCity"

Yes United Water, we the people would also like to know how as a city we manage five breaks in two days, and we're talking large breaks. How much of your precious time and energy are put into pressure testing because it would seem when one goes another upstream isn't far behind. We'd suggest a thorough testing before a pipe bursts near a PATH station or another intersection starts looking like Niagara Falls. Capice?

Household tips with councilwoman Candice Osborne

Downtown councilwoman Candice Osborne, who's ward yesterday was home to four water main breaks, is advising people to KEEP boiling your water used for food-related things for one minute before using.

Osborne also mentioned that westbound Grand St. will be closed today between 9-3.

Precious. Lifegiving. Water.

Downtown Jersey City remains without water this morning due to a water main break that United Water is trying to find for lack of a better word. Mayor Fulop tweeted that water pressure seems to be really low near Grand and Warren so this is where United Water is centering their search. Nine Jersey City schools will be let out at 12:45 because of the water main break, and the city has issued a boil water advisory for what trickle you may have or will hopefully soon be getting back.

A boil water advisory means boil your water for one minute before using unless it is for say washing clothes, taking a shower or washing dishes.

So downtown, cutoff from the rest of the civilized world yet so close to the teeming skyline of New York City, slides closer to chaos, rioting, and dogs and cats living together unless Batman can get the water main fixed. We're setting the over/under on the time it gets fixed at 2:30pm.

If it wasn't for bad luck Hoboken would have no luck at all

Hey Bunky, if some of your Hoboken office co-workers come in smelling a little worse than normal today, cut 'em some slack. For the third time in a week FuHo has suffered a crippling water main break, this one at the corner of 9th and Jefferson. Last week saw two other water main breaks overnight in Hoboken; Last Wednesday at 7th Street between Clinton and Grand, and Friday's break occurred near Washington and Twelfth.

So Hoboken voters, when Mayor Zimmer and or the City Council says they need some emergency do-re-mi cash for upkeep and infrastructure, they ain't whistling Dixie. No, they need new waterpipes and funds to fix, *ahem* giant sinkholes along Sinatra Drive.

Ground Hog Day was yesterday but for some Newport residents, this water main break thing is another day like they had last week

Yes water pipe fans, another water main break has severely curtailed water in the Newport area of Jersey City this morning. Jersey City communications director Stan Eason said the break is VERY similar to the 35" break suffered last week in Newport and many residences in high rise condo and apartment buildings are having difficulty getting any kind of water pressure.

Tell ya what kids, while you're down undergound fixing this one up, put on the waders, get a flashlight and see if any more of these massive pipes are ready to burst before like a chain reaction it winds up affecting Johnny's neighborhood and loft because if that happens workers will be pelted with rocks and garbage and water balloons from high above Jersey City with Johnny's water balloon slingshot that can hit people 3-4 blocks away.

Cut our friends in Newport some slack, they're cranky and smelly; they can't shower due to water main break

And what a big water main it was, a 35 incher. The site of the break is 18th street but for all intents and purposes it's everywhere around there, meaning quite a few high rise condo and apartment buildings could be without water for 24 hours.

We'll cut you all a break on the smell, but only for 24 hours.

Boil Water Advisory for Jersey City this morning

Due to the water main break Jersey City is under a boil water advisory. To stay safe residents should:

"boil their water at a rolling boil for one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth and all other consumption."

That is all.

This sure would have been helpful before Johnny made coffee....

Water main break in Charlotte Circle leaves much of Jersey City with low water pressure

Not just Charlotte Circle is being affected, reading comments from residents in the Jersey Journal story much of Jersey City is suffering from low water pressure while some have no water at all. Johnny was getting his coffee ready last night and noticed the water pressure was very low and this would have been at 11 pm. Flooding is also a problem according to the story which would have explained the news helicopters hovering around the city this morning.
