Monitoring a "roaming gun battle" through the streets of Jersey City

In what the Jersey Journal is calling a "running gun battle" through the streets of Jersey CIty, Johnny is hopping on the listening station of doom and trying to garner what happens next, AFTER all the shooting dies down. The current story is up here and Johnny will update you if he can pick up interesting tidbits monitoring any and all necessary channels.

For those who enjoy such things...UPDATED

For those of you who like to listen in on the emergency broadcast channels channel 460.5500 has the heroes at the Bayonne FD fighting what sounds like one big fire. Best to them on this horridly hot day in their fight.

UPDATE 1:22pm "Somebody is stealing water we need to find another main." Doesn't sound good. In general it sounds like getting a steady supply of water to this fire is an issue.

UPDATE 3:12, the fire was in Jersey City on Boyd Ave. and 10 firefighters have been injured in this 4 alarm blaze. We apologize for the mislabeling of the town but Johnny was listening to Bayonne FD feeds and they were apparently assisting.

Update 3:31 pm The Jersey Journal has an incredible photo journal of this event. From firefighters battling down to the last bit of energy they could squeeze from themselves (heat index currently ยบ108), to the incredible pictures of the fire itself taken from a roof cross the street.

They are also reporting this may have been a situation where the fire started in the basement at 40 Boyd in an illegal apartment set-up and work may have been being done on that unit. Stay tuned.

Does the comment made by a firefighter about somebody stealing water have anything to do with this possible illegal apartment?

Load up the station wagon, it's Leprecon in Hoboken today

Yes nothing beats a drunken orgy aka parade in FuHo like Leprecon, a chance to walk up and down the sidewalks from one overstuffed bar to another while police look for reasons to write big expensive tickets. We'll be monitoring this from the Listening Station of Doom and hopefully have those "Man Wets Pants Standing in Line, Gets $400 Ticket" stories you know and read anyway.

So get out to Hoboken today and tonight from wherever, if you're in eastern Pennsylvania and want a fun boozy day just point that station wagon east and follow the sound of hipsters barking at the ants.

Flash flood warning in Bergen and Passaic counties until 11:45am

Johnny's great 'Listening Station of Doom' device tells him authorities have just issued a flash flood warning for Bergen and Passaic counties until 11:45am from runoff from the overnight rains.

If you've got a cup of coffee in your hand reading us on your laptop in a basement in Edgewater you might want to stick your head above ground and take a look-see.

Oh, Orange and Rockland counties in New York, you're under the same warning.

Try not to be the person who gets stuck in fast moving rising waters in your Fiat 500 and need fire and rescue to save your ill-advised fanny. Most flood deaths happen in cars.

There is also a high wind warning until noon this morning making the morning commute so darned pleasant.

Governor Christie thanked President Obama out of reflex at a presser this morning.

Johnny's NSA-like 'Listening Station of Doom' to become operational later today

Be ye warned good people of Jersey City, New York City and all the surrounding areas, Johnny's master plan to hear all and know all, the feared 'Listening Station of Doom' (That's just good marketing, soon lots of bloggers will want in on the franchise) will go live later today. No entity will be able to escape it's power, not the sworn protectors of the cities or government agencies.

It's part Death Star and part Great Eye of Sauron and cost millions of no intern annual cost of living raises, and it has come to Jersey City...
