Mayor Fulop to the rescue!

With Govrnor Chros Chrostie and Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto clashing heads over who will blink first over the budget, which Christie has said is the reason all state parks (Including Liberty State Park where the Jersey City fireworks are best watched from) will close until a deal is reached.

Stupid.

Mayor Fulop to the rescue this year as he said Jersey City will shoot off fireworks and everyone, instead of LSP, should gather around Exchange Place to watch the show. We thank him for rising above the nonsense coming from Trenton.

Governor Christie legalizes "fireworks" in time for the 4th of July weekend

Fireworks, you know, sparklers, snakes, and party poppers. WOW, have a fucking fabulous 4th of July party with party poppers and sparklers. While this crap law does move New Jersey ahead of such troglodyte states like Delaware and Massachusetts that don't even allow sparklers.

Until you allow firecrackers and or bottle rockets and the like, your state doesn't allow fireworks.

Johnny's long said Steve Fulop had some similar traits to Chris Christie

Today that really came to the fore. We have a bully governor with his ridiculous support of a man who told lies about his own state concerning 9/11. We have a mayor who is so running for governor and some pretty skeevy funding but won't admit it. How do you think they'll handle the issue of a casinos in North Jersey? Let's see:

"If the governor wants to stop north Jersey gaming as a result of this tantrum as he threatens, that is his choice — it doesn't bother us either way," the mayor said. "Jersey City will be just fine."

Governor Christie fires a shot at Mayor Fulop from the right

We as a city simply can't take umbrage anymore when the Governor levels his guns at Jersey City as the Mayor is out there on the same playing field of high-stakes and high-cash world of New Jersey politics. Christie has said if he deals with anyone on moving casinos north it'll be Senate President Steve Sweeney. Christie said he's not going to deal with an obstructionist like Speaker Vincent Prieto who wants to play ball with Mayor Fulop on casinos. Said Christie:

At a press conference this afternoon at Monmouth Medical Center, Gov. Chris Christie denounced Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop as a political boss controlling an obstructionist Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-32), who’s more concerned with playing politics than solving the fiscal troubles of Atlantic City, in the governor’s opinion.

“I’m not going to negotiate with two groups of Democrats,” Christie told reporters, indicating his preference for an Atlantic City intervention bill championed by Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) of which Prieto is wary.

“…Mr. Prieto wants to play public sector union politics for Hudson County political boss Steve Fulop,” said Christie decrying what he sees as too-generous to public sector worker measures favored by Prieto in his version of an AC takeover bill.

Hudson County political boss? Ouch You don't want that tag but it may be inevitable. More at the link...

We hate to harp on the Governor...

...no, wait, no we don't. What an asshat. Let's "Mr. Trump" shit all over us here in New Jersey and nods his head like a bobblehead. Six different papers who endorsed Christie last time have now called for him to resign. We'd love for that to happen but he's too much of an egomaniac. It's time to fully fight back on anything Christie wants, and fight hard. Fight to the last arrow. He shall get nothing through nor do anything more to destroy this state. It's the only option and yes, he brought this on himself.

Petty and we don't mean Tom

Petty, somehow entitled, and certainly not as he seems. That's Johnny's take on Mayor Fulop's petty swipe at the $500K set to go to Friend's of Loew's before the Hudson County Board of Freeholders took Fulop's side and took 300K of the 500K and gave it to the city. By the way and quickly, nice job Freeholders your motives in this can now easily be questioned and your future actions either will or will not show us why you voted as you did yesterday. Go ahead, cozy up to the mayor.

Johnny does a lot of research. Probably more than 99% of people. He can't find a single mention by Mayor Fulop he planned to "repurpose" that 500K set to go to Loew's BEFORE he lost the court case that would have taken over Loew's and made Jersey City the de-facto owners. Fulop would then have been free to bring in his own "consulting groups" at your cost JC, and other promoters at your cost JC to see what was needed for HIS vision of Loew's and what should play there. Let's lay our cards on the table. Johnny often feels frustration with FoL as well. They need to get on the hop. We realize funds are tight and we realize Fulop and the HC BoF knee-capped you but you have had time. Luckily for you a judge saw the agreement the city signed with Loew's to be legal. We also understand you had met the bullet points of what the city was looking for in their pretty much invented outrage to use as cover for taking $300 of the $500K away from you. Still, it's been 30 years. Find a sugar daddy or take on partners. Your deal with the city lasts only so long.

Now, Fulop makes no mention of the "repurposing" of any of the $500K until the judge rightly ruled the city signed the agreement, just because Fulop was having kittens sideways doesn't invalidate it. Suddenly after the court case he's all about cutting the funds. That's sheer pettiness. We've seen it before though haven't we? We've seen it with the JCPD, we've seen it with who gets run out of Dodge for speaking out while others "Allegedly" commit crimes and stay on council with nary a peep from the mayor. A former Police Chief says Fulop covered up a JCPD sergeant's DUI. Some departments are gutted while others go unchecked. Wonder who chooses and why. A petty double standard. We saw it with when Fulop really did pull a Conehead Chris Christie traffic study move by ordering traffic snarled TWICE out of entitlement, pettiness or some other malady. Some of the people online are starting to wake up to this guy and whom he claims to be. Sure, murals are nice. Doesn't help commuters. With the way you've worked with the asshats at the Port Authority there's been one supposedly not related no weekends for a year at Exchange Place. With all the tax money you're giving away so downtown can be overrun by now mostly renters we don't imagine the PA would take a call for more train service from you. How's our lawsuit against them going? Haven't heard much on that lately. We should be kabillionaires by now, no?

Letters recently were sent about protecting Liberty State Park from the new developer friendly bill all the rage with idiots who want to carve out pieces of a Jersey City jewel. Know who wrote to support Liberty State Park from the Fulop Administration? Nobody. State Senator Steve Sweeney did. State Senator Sandra Cunningham did. Where was Fulop? Oh that's right, he wants to place an F1 racing track on part of LSP. No wonder he wouldn't be there protecting OUR park. Entitlement thy name is Steve Fulop.

Bring on Chris Christie's orange sweater!

As you read last night Johnny has a brand new big teevee so Chris Christie's hideous orange sweater (that has cost him so much this week after being seen awkwardly hopping around with Jerry Jones last week vs the Lions) will be bright, front and center.

Go Green Bay, and you kids might want to start thinking about your commute tomorrow morning right now, it's gonna be a mess friends.

Chris Christie was a prosecutor in another life long ago. He knows his way around a courtroom. He knows the inner workings a layman would not. Johnny thinks it is in the best interest of the Garden State that gay marriage stay the law of the land because 2013. But the governor, who is opposed to gay marriage as are a very vocal minority, need a way to look good.

So, in appealing Superior Court Judge Mary Jacobson's ruling, send forth your worst lawyer to represent the state. Give us Dan Fielding. Send forth Louis Tully.

You tried. Besides, if any of this bluster is trying to provide cover for a 2016 presidential run, you are so not getting the votes of the people in the primaries you're aiming for here. They're supporting a pale rider on a white horse should he promise them no more goobermint Obamacare, gay marriage and teachers unions.

Look, New Jersey is for gay marriage and it is simply not right to put someone's rights up for a vote of the general populace. There would be pockets in this land where women and minorities wouldn't be voting if you left these things up to a vote.

Is posting a note on Facebook a proper and official way to cancel an event?

Especially when it's a 9/11 memorial service? The New Jersey 9/11 Memorial Foundation had a memorial scheduled for yesterday at the Falling Skies memorial in Liberty State Park. But, when people who had lost family members on 9/11 showed up they were met with, well, nothing:

“This is the memorial of New Jersey and it’s disappointing that no one is here,”  said Cheryl Charette, of Millburn.

So, who didn't show up? Governor Chris Christie wasn't there (we don't know if he had previously declined -- maybe he posted that on Facebook) and some scheduled musicians decided it wasn't worth their valuable time. Nobody showed up. So what does the New Jersey 9/11 Memorial Foundation think is a proper way to cancel an event? They merely posted a post on Facebook and left it at that. Nobody issued a press release earlier in the week, nobody went to tell people to turn around, nothing.

That didn't stop the New Jersey 9/11 Memorial Foundation from a little righteous indignation (to which we feel they were entitled):

“It was a disgrace that we couldn’t get speakers and politicians to come forward,” the official said.

So there you have it, Facebook seems to be the new notary public that when an event is cancelled.

It also would seem that nobody felt like attending a 9/11 memorial in Liberty State Park but for the parents and friends and families who lost loved ones. Everyone in the Garden State can stop bleating about what uber patriots they became on 9/11 after this, including you Governor.

Sounds like Governor Christie's teevee gets Comedy Central just fine

Sources now say "The Governor" may name an interim senator to Frank Lautenberg's seat. Jon Stewart is even moar powerful than Johnny had imagined. If you haven't seen last night's Daily Show where Stewart uses Christie's own words on what kind of person would hold an expensive election one month before the general election was fabulous. Note the questions as far back as 2009 were exactly in reference to what he'd do if Frank Lautenberg passed away while in office:

You know those double takes you do when something just seems odd?

Well here was one this morning:

Flash flood warning in Bergen and Passaic counties until 11:45am

Johnny's great 'Listening Station of Doom' device tells him authorities have just issued a flash flood warning for Bergen and Passaic counties until 11:45am from runoff from the overnight rains. 

If you've got a cup of coffee in your hand reading us on your laptop in a basement in Edgewater you might want to stick your head above ground and take a look-see. 

Oh, Orange and Rockland counties in New York, you're under the same warning. 

Try not to be the person who gets stuck in fast moving rising waters in your Fiat 500 and need fire and rescue to save your ill-advised fanny. Most flood deaths happen in cars. 

There is also a high wind warning until noon this morning making the morning commute so darned pleasant. 

Governor Christie thanked President Obama out of reflex at a presser this morning.
