It's it a great day if you love a humid blast furnace because that's what we've got here at the mouth of the Hudson River. It's already 93º going up near 100º later today with no relief in sight. It's 91º in Newark, 92º in Union City and 93º in New York City. Traffic and weather together on the 9's.

In this steamy weather a few tips...

It's a firecracker out there Jersey City and the surround. We hope you're managing to stay cool. Here are a few things you might find handy going forward. Click this link to find out where the cooling centers are located around town for those who don't have A/C. Make sure to check on elderly family members and friends and neighbors on days like this they are very susceptible to the heat. A list of all the Jersey City swimming pools and sprinkler set-ups can be found by following this link. Also, make sure your pets have lots and lots of water. Bring them inside to cool off if you can but if not, water them well. Check out these tips on hot weather and pets from the ASPCA.

And the interns are nowhere and the A/C is just not able to hit the "Ross Ice Shelf" setting he normally keeps it at. But what are ya gonna do short of going outside (bleh) and yell at traffic?

Pigeons are now bursting into flames in Journal Square

It's pigeon immolation hot. Horrified onlookers are fleeing Journal Square as pigeons both in the air and on the ground get their flame on.

At 4 pm Johnny saw a reading on Wunderground at 103º in Jersey City with a heat index of 117º. If it gets to 120º Shih Tzu's start blowing up real good.

Heat advisory today from 11 am to 6 pm

It's gonna be another firecracker Jersey City. Temps in the mid 90's with a heat index in the mid-100's. The corn on the cob being sold at the Grove St. farmer's market this afternoon might just start popping right there on the tables.

You just bring the butter.

Heat warning locally from 1 pm until 9 pm tonight

Temps this afternoon could soar close to if not reaching 100º with a heat index in the 108º range. Please bring pets inside, check on senior citizens and those without air conditioning. Jersey City has designated many places around town as cooling centers today. The Jersey Journal lists them as:

Five Corners Library, 678 Newark Ave.; 12 to 8 p.m. today and tomorrow.

Glenn D. Cunningham Branch Library, 275 Martin Luther King Drive; 12 to 8 p.m. today; 10 am. to 6 p.m. tomorrow.

Miller Branch, 489 Bergen Ave. 12-8 p.m. today; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow.

Heights Branch, 14 Zabriskie St.; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today; 12-8 p.m. tomorrow.
