New Jersey Jets football gameday!

This will be short for all you Jetropolitan fans as you head over to the New Meadowlands. Rumor has it the Denver Donkeys stayed at the Westin this time like they didn't do during Super Bowl week. They high-tailed it over to the Westin so they could stay where winning teams stay, like the Seattle Peahens.

OK, so there you go, there's your drama. The Jets are a sucky mess with no hope at QB and the other team today has Peyton Maning and a highly operative team and game plan. What would you like Johnny to tell you Jets fans? That no game is ever played on paper? Ok, no game is ever played on paper. That being said...

New Jersey Jets football gameday!

Is it? Could it be? YES! The NFL is back with games that count in the standings AND for player suspensions!

A gorgeous Sunday dawns for the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS home opener over at the New Meadowlands (and a reminder to our readers Johnny isn't getting paid to call the stadium in the New Meadowlands by it's corporate name, so he doesn't have to. Pony up bitches!). Game time temps in the mid to upper 70's and after this week's heat wave oh that's tasty. With a huge game for Rutgers next weekend against The Nittany Scourge could it be this area is ready to commit a whole weekend to football, not just Sunday?

So, football, yes, pigskins and X's and O's. The Oakland, Los AngelesThe Al Davis Death StarRancho Cucamonga, Oakland Raiders come a calling today, hey would you look at that, at the New Meadowlands of all places. We'll take kind of an overview look at the game because we don't have many trend lines and who knows what a real first game brings. Preseason means nothing. The year the Lions lost all their regular season games they won all their preseason games.  Geno Smith will lead a Jets team that with some hard work and a couple bounces, could be playing serious football in December. New England aren't what they have been. Miami is usually right around 8-8 always and Buffalo is, well, cold. But he has to lead and the Jets have to score points. Chris Johnson and Eric Decker you are up. Smith Johnson and Decker will have to shoulder much of the Jetropolitans offensive load. They'll for once have to cover for a defense that could leak in the secondary, for so long a Jets strength. 17 points a game isn't gonna feed any kind of good season.

The Raiders are coming off a league leading 11 straight seasons with a losing record. That's worse than Johnny's Browns. When you suck more than the Cleveland Browns you might be a black hole. Hey, isn't that the Raiders cheering section? Yahtzee! It seems like the Oakland Eleven will be going with rookie Derek Carr at QB today, something that should make Jet fans really happy. Two things happen in a rookie's first game. They talk about you on SportsCenter in glowing terms or Tom Jackson shakes his head while looking down watching your "highlights" roll across the screen. If Darren McFadden is healthy that could be a problem. Good player when he can play. James Jones from Green Bay and running back Maurice Jones-Drew from Jacksonville also moved west to be paid in pirate plunder rather than US currency. That's a good enough lot that if somebody gets on a roll the Jets could lose a winnable game. It goes back to the Jets offense scoring and holding onto the ball.

At Johnny's first college football game at now since lost to time Memorial Field in Marquette Michigan in 19&%, he learned his first college cheer to back those Northern Michigan Wildcats out on a real frozen tundra. Go ahead Jets fans, feel free to use it:

Jets and Giants football GAMEDAY!

Well pigskin fans, the calendar has turned to December. One New Jersey based team is alive in the playoff race and one, if they lose today, will most likely get the coaching staff broomed and the players purged at season's end.

In the dog game (with apologies to dogs) the Swamplands Jetropolitans travel to scenic Jacksonville to see if they can't somehow get a win against a team with a total of two thus far. The Jets aren't horrible in road results at 2-3 and Jacksonville is 1-5 in ____________ Bank Stadium. Since Mark Sanchez got the hook last week and the Jets won, and both Tebow and McElroy available his leash is short indeed. But let's face facts, sans a great effort against Houston these are toothless Jaguars. We think this game will play out the way the Rams game did a few days back.

Fearless forecast:
Jetropolitans 20
Jacksonville 19

Air Brees rolls into the New Meadowlands and gets ready for takeoff around 4:30pm. This is a dangerous game for the G-Men. Brees normally doesn't suck all day long and is capable as anyone of hanging a 4 TD game on you. Today's insurance policy is the fact Baltimore plays at Washington and not Cleveland. Dallas is in Cincinnati because the league made them go there and will face a very hot Bungles squad. Sure the Giants have a better record than the Saints. Sure they're at home. Sure they should win.

So why is this game scaring the bejeepers out of Giants fans? Johnny has that same sinking feeling. We think it'll be point filled and crazy but we think the Saints make a stand.

Jets and Giants football Gameday!

And if you're NOT going to Liberty State Park for the free Aretha Franklin show and DO tend to worry about your favorite football teams on Sunday let's talk gridiron.

The Jets are home for a 1pm matchup with NFC powerhouse San Francisco. The Jets are largely up against it as what the 49ers do so well are troublesome for the Jets. The Niners run and run well. They have a great TE in Vernon Davis and some solid wide receivers. The Jets who recently have built their reputation on a shut down defense are currently ranked #21 in the NFL in total defense. When it's broken down to only rush defense the Jetropolitans are a poor 27th. No doubt Jim Harbaugh who kept his team in Ohio to practice this week will find some way to make his running game effective. More bad news for the Jets whose offense has rebounded from a moribund pre-season is that the 49ers employ a very good defense. 8th against the rush and 11th in scoring defense means the Jets are gonna have to go to the air today. Mark Sanchez is going to have to keep his composure, not turn the ball over and not get rattled. Still we see the San Francisco 11 emerging victorious today, yes even on the road.

Fearless Forecast:
San Francisco 23
New Jersey Jets 16

The G-Men are down in Philly where they blew up the Chicken Man lo those many years ago. It's a huge early NFC East test and will be shown live in living color at 8:20 tonight. Interesting matchup. The Giants are dinged up pretty well and Michael Vick can't stay healthy or complete a majority of passes to players on his own team. Intrigued yet? The Giants defense will have to stand tall as will the specialty teams for the Giants. It always seems if they play poorly against Philly the special teams let them down in some capacity. While Eli might not have his top guys catching balls tonight, he has shown through the years he can work with about any receivers and make them better. That doesn't mean he's gonna throw for 350 yards and 3 scores BUT it is an outside possibility any time he plays. Johnny thinks the difference will be that Tom Coughlin will outcoach Andy Reid, outprepare him and have his team ready from the word go. The Giants will put themselves in position to be successful and the Sheagals will have trouble doing just that.

Jets and Giants football gameday!

Well here we are, the final act of the 2011-12 regular season. The Giants and Jets are both very much alive and yet very much on life support. The team with the bigger "Bring out your dead..." moment is the Jetropolitans. In order for the Jets to make it to the postseason they need a string of good luck today. A big string of good luck. They must beat the Dolphins in Miami. OK, doable. The Dolphins are very hot right now and the Jets have lost their way so it won't be easy but here is the rest of that lifeline:

Cincinnati must lose at home to Baltimore. Both teams have a lot to play for but Baltimore looks to be a stronger choice here.
Tennessee must lose in Houston. Will Houston be resting players at some point? Tennessee doesn't really scare anyone do they?
Denver or Oakland must lose. The Broncos host Kansas City while the Raiders face San Diego at home. We think Kansas City, which has won maybe once in Denver since Len Dawson was their QB will continue that pedigree. The Raiders? Who knows, flip a coin.

Possible.

If they don't win and get in it's more than time to ask the question in Mark Sanchez wasn't more of a fashionable sexy draft pick than a smart franchise move for a QB. Stats don't lie after all this time.

Now, the team that stomped the Jets like narcs at a biker rally, your New Jersey football Giants, have an easier and more direct path which would be to beat Dallas at home tonight. That's all. Pass rush, harass, hit, annoy and sack Tony Romo out of existence and the playoffs beckon. They should be able to do that. Dallas also has a very unsteady head coach in Jason Garrett who doesn't seem to do them any favors at key moments. Free up next weekend Giants fans.

Fearless forecast:
New Jersey Giants 31
Dallas Cowboys 17

New Jersey Jets 27
Miami Dolphins 26
Alas, the Jets playoff scenario mountain is just too high to climb and we think they're done after today. Nice guarantee at the beginning of the season there Rex.
