Oh NOES! The Jersey Shore has been cancelled

Yes fans of lowbrow, unintelligent, slovenly television, you'll just need to find another show. MTV has lowered the boom on Snooki, JWOWW, Juicehead, Uncle Gorilla, Cousin It, Larry Daryl and Daryl and the whole cast.

Here now a moment of silence for a retrospective of our favorite Jersey Shore moments:

Thank you

Jersey City overrun with people coming to see where Snooki and JWOWW slept

No not really. Nothing has changed. That entire fiasco raised about zero awareness of our fair city. Despite the PROMISES of the Healy Administration, there aren't, nor were there ever big Snooki-bucks coming here. It was all a mirage by people with not enough vision. Hoboken said no. Yesterday Point Pleasant and Tom's River told them no to season two in their towns. What do they know that Jersey City didn't? They knew how to read the tea leaves friends.

Two things strike us here; 1) How long is MTV going to squeeze this dead-on-the-vine franchise? It's empty. Nobody cares when Snooki can't get drunk and fall down or get punched in the face. 2) Don't let the Healy Administration hold onto the remote control when it comes to the possibility of future shows wanting to set up shop here. They can't be trusted to pick winners. Leave that to the Jersey City Desk group of experts.

What did people learn about Jersey City from watching their show? Dogs in Jersey City love pooping inside. Who knew?

Again with the financial benefit stories from the Snooki Variety Hour?

We're not sure who keeps tickling the folks assigning stories at The Jersey Journal to tell us of the coming tidal wave of Snooki and JWOWW cash to downtown Jersey City businesses but it grows weary.

Today we had yet another one. You bet that money is gonna come rolling in once this show hits the airwaves. A couple restaurants are serving more meals per week. While we're happy for the uptick in business for now we really wonder if these grand projections will ever happen. This wasn't wet and drunk Snooki from The Jersey Shore show, no this is pregnant good girl Snooki who buys homegoods and baby clothes. Wait'll THAT crowd hits downtown, maternity madness will be the rock this city makes bank on.

It is almost as if the more the Jersey Journal keeps reporting the great buzz and huge money flowing into downtown from this yet to be aired show, they want people to think it's already been a big success. Simply not true. It drove a nice sized wedge between a lot of people and business owners downtown. It was badly handled at city hall.

The program hasn't even begun advertising yet and already it's a huge success here. Just like a middling cable television show rollout that after one episode they are tout as "The Breakout HIT of the season" here it comes again only with bigger stakes. When someone tells you something is already a success and it hasn't even begun yet, they're peddling something.

Should expectant mothers avoid jumping sharks? Tune in later this summer to find out Jersey City.

Snooki and JWOWW have left the building

And off-duty-money-making-cops in Jersey City are sad this cottage industry is ending. Yes trash teevee watchers, the Jersey Shore duo have wrapped up filming for their whatever-it-is show and have left the Mercer Street residence to the fumigators. Before the two left town however they got to really see what real Jersey City residents thought of them and their program (pay attention Mayor Healy, you foisted this on us and it will come up again before the election, so note the residents reaction) as the Hobbit Elvira and the other one knocked on doors to say goodbye to Mercer St. neighbors. Only four doors were opened (one was a plant set-up by show producers) and two of those doors were slammed in Snooki's face. At least no overzealous neighborhood watch self-appointed block captain shot them.

So off into the sunset they go, riding in pink-tinged Cadillacs, with color dyed dogs riding in their laps, and leaving one failed television show experiment behind them.

The failure of Mayor Healy's starry-eyed Snooki-mania

Mayor Healy, Jersey City here. Well of course not all of Jersey City, but we're guessing a pretty solid majority of Jersey City.

What were you thinking? When you decided to allow this Snooki and J-WOWW spin-off in Jersey City what information did you have that Dawn Zimmer in Hoboken and Cory Booker in Newark didn't have? Why would they turn this mess down (and Cory Booker out and out said it was over public safety and police distribution as to why the show was not welcome to film in Newark) and you allow it?

Saturday at LEAST 5 uniformed police stood around Mercer and Grove acting like total jerks to residents while the production crew shut down the intersection to film Snooki and J-WOWW walking from their pink-tinged Escalade to their new front door. All those police were needed somehow Mayor? Johnny was there, he was one of your taxpaying residents who was treated poorly by the JCPD. Johnny and five friends were waiting to get into Marco and Pepe's for brunch. The tables were full as was the lobby. We were waiting outside. A JCPD officer strolled over from doing nothing and told us we had to move along. Johnny and his party told the officer "NO, we're good waiting right here." He was more adamant "Move along, KEEP moving." Again we told him NO. "We have business with THIS restaurant we're standing in front of, we're causing no trouble." He walked away only to come back AGAIN after a couple minutes to again tell us we couldn't stand there.

Mayor Healy, is this what you wanted? People being harassed outside a Jersey City restaurant by your police? Do you want people to leave the downtown area and maybe go eat in Hoboken until we can not be bothered in OUR city in which WE pay taxes?

Once more, we told the officer we were, in no uncertain terms, NOT MOVING. We don't NEED to move. Finally officer friendly walked away to hassle people even FURTHER from where they were filming. Amazing.

Whom does the JCPD work for, MTV or Jersey City residents? Wait, don't answer that...

Yesterday the Jersey Journal reported that THREE JCPD officers stood outside the new Snooki residence on Mercer while NOTHING happened. THREE. No doubt the JCPD has no trouble with this arrangement. Maybe some free overtime being handed out on that duty.

Mayor (and Tom Comey) why does it take THREE police officers to watch Snooki's doorbell? That's just giving away free city resources. Why aren't two of these officers patrolling The Heights or Greenville (NOT free overtime)? On construction projects around town there is only one officer standing by yet Snooki has three. Mayor Healy, WHY is that?

We don't care if the show's producers are helping out with costs, they should be so don't say "The cost of three officers is taken care of." NOT The point. Why aren't the taxpayers in Greenville being given more police protection when police are clearly available? That IS the point.

Recently Mayor Healy sounded put off when asked if the Downtown was getting all the attention while other areas of the city suffer. Here is case and point. Case and point Mayor, your critics were right again.

And you made it so easy for them.

If you're like Johnny you're nonplussed by the Jersey Shore spin-off being filmed here

So, if you want to support those restaurants who, like you, have said "no way" to this televised claptrap read on. Three local restaurants are on record now saying their current clientele is far more important that signing a release waiver to allow the Jersey Shore spin-off to film in their restaurants.

Seriously, could you imagine being told YOU had to sign some kind of waiver before you ate and one of your favorite restaurants? How much would you enjoy hearing from others YOU were filmed at a local eatery while the show was filming and that one of the show's actors made fun of you? Well bunky you needn't worry if your dining choices are Skinner's Loft, Barcade, or LITM (Love is the Message). All have picked YOU dear reader over Snooki and that kind of loyalty should be repaid in kind Johnny thinks.

Viva Hobbit-free eating!

So Jersey City, the Snooki spin-off WILL be here in Jersey City

And when you can't get into certain restaurants because they are filming you can thank Mayor Healy. Unlike Dawn Zimmer in Hoboken who told the Snooki and JWOWW television producers in no uncertain terms they weren't welcome there (not even non-planned shots) Mayor Healy here is like a little child who hears the word television and goes crazy and actually tries to get this crap-trap show to make Snooki everyone's impression of a Jersey City resident.

Just once we wish our mayor would think about the residents of this city and the fact (according to social media polls) just don't want this crap in our city. WE are not that desperate mayor. WE are not like crows gravitating to the shiny thing. WE don't feel this show represents us at all and WE don't want the rest of the world thinking this is how we roll. We don't.

So the Snooki and JWOWW show/program/thing will begin filming February 17 at a two story firehouse at Grove and Mercer, right near City Hall, Marco and PePe's and the Beechwood Cafe.

Mayor Healy, if the filming of this show keeps Johnny from his weekend appointed breakfasts at either Marco and PePe's or the Beechwood Cafe production equipment is getting moved and producers and their hangers on are gonna be wearing syrup on their heads.

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick -- N-O spells NO

Good morning Jersey City. Have you had your coffee yet this rainy morning in Cool City? Maybe a danish or some breakfast to start your day right? Good, thats great. Are you sitting down?

The MTV show The Jersey Shore has contacted and is looking to film their next season right here in Jersey City.

Peter Stuyvesant is rolling over in his grave.

Yes, what's not to love about drunken brawling and smush rooms inhabited by spray tanned dotars and little hobbit-like Elviras? The show is also looking at the possibility of filming in Las Vegas or Los Angeles. Sadly, if we had to guess getting the Jersey Shore cast this close to NYC might be too much to pass up. We're of the mind however since most of the guidos and guidetts are from Long Island ANYWAY, well you get the idea.

On the next Jersey Shore, Snooki goes hunting for the Long Island serial killer...

Color us a no vote on this one, Jersey City doesn't need anything this badly.

So, anyone headed down the the shore this weekend?

Last big weekend of summer, Governor Christie is encouraging everyone to head down and help pick up the shore economy after last week's hurricane so, ya going?

Johnny's working on a Jersey City Desk App you could use while beaching, it should be up and running by summer of 2014. It'll have a little foghorn reminder to turn over when tanning (All the Michigan peeps know of the WRIF radio invention), the best places to get cheap booze and a little game in the App "Pin the gin and tonic on Snooki."

Canadian television has gone and done it now; A Canuck version of The Jersey Shore

We try hard here not to give much if any ink to the show The Jersey Shore because, well, they're dumbasses without much to offer as entertainment. However, when we heard that Canadian television was coming out with their own version of the show this January, entitled 'Lake Shore' (Out dere Toronto way eh) we simply had to open it up to you, the Jersey City Desk reader. Now according to The Washington Post, the actors (ie losers) all come from DIFFERENT ethnic backgrounds which means insulting somebody's heritage just got that much easier. The WaPo goes on to list the people appearing on this show as:

Sibel, the Turk

Joey, the Italian

Anni Mei, the Vietnamese

Tommy Hollywood, the Czech

Robyn, the Jew

Salem, the Lebanese

Karolina, the Pole

Downtown D, the Albanian

What? No Snow Snooki?

So they wanna put Hoboken on the show 'Parking Wars', we think it's a great idea

What could be better than watching Hoboken residents bursting a vein in their forehead as they get a ticket in the ticket capital of the Jersey City Desk reading area. Nobody tickets more or faster than the Mile Square City and we think delving into the true psychies of Hoboken drivers will be far more interesting than say Elvira Hobbit Snooki on 'Jersey Shore'.

But soon Weehawken we're gonna need a show out of you, Bayonne are you listening? Jersey City has 'Mercy' filmed here, Hoboken has 'Cake Boss' and soon 'Parking Wars', New York City gets teevee shows filmed there from time to time as well we've heard and seen tell. If you don't have a teevee show in your town around here, are you really a good town? We eagerly await 'Weehawken Criminal Intent' or 'CSI Bayonne'.
