Some pretty good white out conditions for a 6-10" storm. Oh that wind.

Annnnnnd this morning 'Big Weather' has come around to Weather Willy's 3-6" forecast

So, get ready, tomorrow morning the Bomb Cyclone will spin close enough to give us 3-6" starting early morning and running through the afternoon.

Then two days of Hoth.

Snow Snow Snow, Blizzard Blizzard Blizzard

Do we have your attention. As much as Johnny and the crew like to have fun with big snowstorms, Tuesday is serious business. Accuweather, Wunderground, our good friend Weather Willy, and the National Weather Service have all begun calling for huge piles of snow and blizzard conditions. One forecasting service is saying, well, it's incredible. The call right now is 14-20" but some are easing that upwards of 24" inches with that one service calling for areas of northwest New Jersey to get 30+ inches of snow. All this snow (NWS has NYC pegged for 18 currently") will be accompanied with 30-40mph winds with gusts of 50-60 possible. It will be a LONG storm. Starting very late Monday night and ending very late Tuesday night.

If you need to set up care for a senior or older relative, or get to the store tomorrow instead of with the panic shoppers on Monday, make your plan on working from home Tuesday or just get a strategic parking spot, now is the time.

A storm worthy of the name storm

Well, that certainly was quite a snowstorm wasn't it? Some really heavy snow for a few hours and a biting wind to blow the snow around. It's well off but a local weather prognosticator said there is the possibility for another one next week, if a southwest wind will oblige.

The Jersey City Desk Action Weather Team says Thursday might get nutty

A front that will pass through our area on it's way to New England will start as rain before possibly dropping some plowable snow (some models show it having enough gas for 8" of snow, starting as the wet kind) on our area. Stay tuned to this channel for more information on what we're calling:

NJ.com only had two places reporting on snow totals, Harrison at 2.5 inches and Hoboken at 2.8. Johnny's gonna go ahead and take the Jersey City Desk Action Weather Team's word and say Jersey City had an even 3.0 and we won.

Wind damage sure came to Hudson County today

From Jersey City to Harrison to other points, the wind sure took it's toll around the area today. While it actually snowed early this morning it was around 6am when the winds came causing damage and power outages in Bayonne and claiming scaffolding on the Newark Ave. pedestrian plaza in downtown Jersey City. It's 97º at 11:30 AM with a heat index of 107º

Sitting down? 2-3" of snow on Saturday

Cold air will form a dome over the Garden State Friday night and lead to a 2-3" snow event pretty much all day Saturday.

It'll be a pretty day at least

No, not this morning raw wind and cold shit, the snow. Around 11ish according to the Weatherometers at the Jersey City Desk Action Weather Team stations Jersey City and the surround will get about an half inch WHOA all the way up to an inch, (unless you're on Long Island and Connecticut or out there in Rhode Island (hey Rhode Island!) in which case it's been good to know ya.

So Jersey City you'll probably want to go raid those stores on lunch break to ride this whopper out.

Winter Storm #EthelMerman set to hit this Saturday!

Screw the Weather Channel naming storms. Johnny's taking his turn in naming this one. #WinterStormEthelMerman could bring anywhere from 4-8" of snow up to 8-12" of snow or anywhere in between as a front carrying a lot of moisture rolls up from the Carolinas Friday and all-day Saturday. Winter has found us Jersey City and it only took until January 17th.

The snow is not going to let up anytime soon

If you were hoping for the day to improve so you could run out and get some things done, good luck with that. The snow arrived late but forecasters say it's still going to bring us 4-8" with it now looking like a heavier amount is more likely. Do be careful should to head out later after the snow stops tonight as the temperatures are going to bottom out and whatever melted over the last couple days is going to freeze up. That's a potential for a LOT of ice around here friends. Since it's dropping into the middle-teens tonight that means the salt on the roads and sidewalks is probably not going to help too much.

Here's an image of the Mill Creek rehab project downtown. Johnny saw the snow sticking to the safety netting (that Mill Creek employs yet many other contractors in Jersey City do NOT) making it look like some kind of eerie spider web. Cool beans.

A few animated gifs from this quite pretty snowstorm. That black netting on the Mill Creek building rehab is such a natural background. Maybe there's a way to keep the netting up even after the building reopens and turn the Morgan Lot into a drive in movie joint. Johnny's an idea man.

And you thought winter was over...

The Jersey City Desk Action Weather Team is sorry to remind you about March coming in like a lion and so forth. Pretty dodgy weather coming our way from this morning into tomorrow. We'll start off with snow today and into tonight, 2-4" roughly. Then it gets nutty with rain, freezing rain, sleet and up to 1/10th of an inch of ice.

Needless to say the morning commute tomorrow will suck hard.

Governor Gone delays all state offices opening until 11am today

From New Hampshire, where he has been elected after running for and not winning the Iowa governor's seat, Chris Christie has declared that state offices will delay opening because of this powdery easy to drive on snow.

Just wanted to give you aheads up Jersey City, like if you were going to get your drivers license renewed or what not. Not 'til 11.

The Jersey City Desk Action Weather Team is all over #WinterStormWangChung

Starting tomorrow evening the National Weather Service (who don't name winter storms because that's stupid and Johnny does it to mock the Weather Channel's continued stupidity) has said the Jersey City Desk listening area is in for a starter number of 6-10" which could go higher and will be mixed with ice and sleet on Monday morning before turning back to snow then damned colder. We're gonna put some numbers down for snow totals

The National Weather Service forecast map, broken down by neighborhood, paints a pretty snowy picture for Jersey City. Downtown by the Colgate Clock it's calling for 29.3 inches. The Heights 28.5. St. Peter's gets 28.7. PATH says they are running trains on a normal schedule and will go as long as their technology allows but at some point that's a service that's going to stop. Same for busses, Uber, cabs and anything but snowmobiles and sled dogs. After 1pm tomorrow your options begin to close. Plan on power going out in some places. This is a serious storm that can kill.

It can't get any worse for a winter storm. Johnny is going to make his final storm prep tomorrow morning taking the PATH to Journal Square to grab a case of frozen White Castles if society breaks down for a day or so.
