If you're heading to the shore this weekend listen good
Yeah, Johnny's pretty much checked out into weekend mode as he's actually taking a day off for a four-day weekend but if you're lucky enough to be heading down to the Jersey Shore in Atlantic and or Monmouth counties there have been some disturbing shark sightings over the last few days. Great white shark disturbing.
Enjoy the weekend but do be careful.

The next time Mayor Fulop or Public Safety Director Shea say they're doing everything they can...
...to stop this shooting gallery and long hot summer that started early in Jersey City, and that they are doing EVERYTHING in their power to get a handle on the violence and stop it you can look them in the eye and say, "No, you're not."
Take cops off of construction sites and have them answer tip lines or do SOMETHING, ANYTHING constructive. We don't need (and Mayor Fulop even said so as he ran for mayor, he was going to replace cops at construction sites with trained citizen guards, WHY did he abandon these set in stone plans?) cops standing around from 8 until 3 taking developer money. We need the PD overtime more than your jobsite needs a nanny.
Yes, Johnny has actually heard uniformed JCPD offers pitch their services to stand around and help with traffic to Toll Brothers site foremen. A 20 second snippet one day was utterly hilarious in describing the apocalypse that could befall the job site without a cop around it, like a vandal. Now, the cops don't stand there at night and the idea that a whole bunch of workers wouldn't see a vandal on their site in broad daylight and club him or her to death with tools is absurd. Also, no citizen could possibly wave two cars around a stopped truck, that takes training. Cop training apparently, right mayor?
So, next time they issue a press release through Jennifer Morrill, or post something on Facebook about how no resources are being spared, point them back here and say, "Oh yes there are, lots of them."

An image from a bygone era
The almost postcard looking scene of a painter with his brush and canvas outside painting a scene. Johnny chanced across this gentleman today along Warren St. looking at the facade of the old Manischewitz building before Toll Brothers puts up their newest abortion of a building blocking this very view.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with BLONDIE!
One of Johnny's absolute favorite songs about star-crossed lovers, or in this case a young couple in a Chevy with only 30 payments due getting into a fight while driving. What could go wrong, right?
A Spahn Ranch reference worked in. Debbie Harry and Chris Stein are geniuses.
'Susie and Jeffrey' kicking things off tonight.

Don't be late tonight, we have something serious to do as a city
At 8pm in the Newark pedestrian area (Grove and Newark) we as a city will stand up to stupidity and guns as we try and take some of the hurt from Orlando and put it on our shoulders.
While Johnny has long and PROUDLY stood with the LGBT community and can't begin to fathom their hurt, he's done worrying (not caring, there is a difference) about if the place that was shot up was a gay nightclub, a school, a college, or a workplace. He's done with the automatic weapons. Johnny understands the Second Amendment quite well thank you, he grew up hunting from time to time in Michigan on his grandpa's property. Small game, deer etc. He's not anti-hunting weapon, he's anti-handgun and assault rifle. The NRA anymore is about helping companies sell guns and not representing sportsmen and outdoors types. FUCK THE NRA.
The event begins at 8pm tonight and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE turn out. Johnny, broken body and all right now will, here's hoping you can too.

More squabbling over casinos between north Jersey and south Jersey
A group of south New Jersey interests are trying to keep north New Jersey from getting casinos (you can already gamble your brains out on your smartphone app or ipad app already) and have raised money and a stink in trying to keep their share of the pie. There's a great article today on the forces marshaling down south to defeat any plan for casinos up north.
Once again Johnny will say that you can build the greatest casino that ever was with golden fountains and silver elevator cars but the minute one opens in nay borough other than Staten Island, it'll be closed within the year. NYC opens a casino, the north Jersey one just closed.

Friday Night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with THE WHO!
Keith Moon is far better than John Bonham.
Still here? Good, hang out, grab some snacks and a brew or cocktail but understand you gotta weed out the slappys from the true music fans. Not that Led Zeppelin didn't make good music but c'mon, Johnny can't believe in 2016 we still have this discussion.
Here's a question to ponder. Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey shared enough of the lead singing duties to say it was a two singer band. Same with Paul McCartney and John Lennon over at House Beatles. Both these bands are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Which other bands can you think of that have two 'lead' singers and wound up in the Rock Hall? God love Keith Richards but that's not singing.
The Who from Tommy and a favorite of Johnny's that feature both Roger and Pete singing and a masterclass on percussion with Moon the Loon and 'Go to the Mirror'

Hey The Morgan, what kind of place you running there?
Johnny has first hand confirmation that if you don't want to pay going hotel rates in downtown Jersey City, you can call The Morgan, Toll Brothers abortion of a building (remember, they themselves slagged the design in a PADNA meeting) downtown and they will rent you, via AirBNB or similar program a room to let. Now, the Morgan is in the business of renting, long term leases, we don't think there was anything in the reading of their abatement language that allows them to turn their place into a de-facto hotel.
Johnny also heard this morning from a source in the building with knowledge of the situation The Morgan, nee Toll Brothers, appear to have rented entire floors out to corporate room finders for short-term stays. We understand from sources The Morgan isn't renting units as fast as they had hoped so it would appear, according to the stories, they have decided to perhaps skirt local hotelier laws and no doubt Marriot and Hilton would be interested in such actions.
Toll Brothers, a bad part of Jersey City.

Jersey City PD standing around construction sites is a great success; NO buildings have been shot
Unfortunately for Jersey City, more citizens HAVE been shot lately so oh those lucky buildings!
It makes NO goddamn sense does it? Why these guys are standing around a construction site while the city bleeds nightly, and now more disturbingly, daily. No way the city HAS to let these cops stand around. They could be doing something, anything to help. Track down leads or tips, man a phone line, get in a car and drive around the neighborhoods for god's sake. We have all this developer money, how about spending it on something useful and tangible? Mayor Fulop we get so little say over the tax abatements and where the PILOT money goes and you and our so-called leaders can't then have the common sense to up the patrols and pull these cops off the overtime gravy train? Priorities always reveal themselves mayor, they always do.
Johnny defies the JCPD or city officials to give us a time a cop at a construction site did something OTHER than maybe direct a truck in once every 3 hours, play Doodle Jump on their iPhones or just get back in their cars and go to fucking sleep. When have they caught a criminal? When have they been following up on shooting cases or adding something, anything, to the cause?
It's pretty sad when the citizens of Jersey City are begging for help far and wide to what is becoming the dreaded long hot summer and seeing so many resources by those in charge of the JCPD and city hall simply squandered. Come on Mayor Fulop, tell us something on Facebook then go back to running for Governor. Yet another reason this city needs to keep Jersey City elections on a special Jersey City day, in May, as that might be the only thing that gets through to our MIA mayor in all this. Til that happens folks he's checked out.

When the bedrock shifts
All our lives, those of us fortunate enough to not have been born with an affliction such as blindness, deafness, mutism, it's understood we are our best persons around them because we're lucky the DNA played out the way it did AND you'd never look down your nose at someone with a life-challenge like deafness-- until today. Yes, a deaf guy was a dick and made 911 calls on an iPad app that deaf people use to make 911 calls. One Jason Paul Smith pled guilty to making bomb threats against the Statue of Liberty forcing the parks service and police to evacuate 3200 people from Liberty Island.

Jersey City taxpayers again on the hook for Mayor Fulop's miscalculations
The cost to Jersey CIity taxpayers for the loss of the court case against Realty Appraisal just increased by $115,000 because once again the mayor didn't understand how the reval worked or he was simply stalling for no good legal reason in order to protect his donor class downtown.
Hudson County Superior Court Judge Francis B. Schultz had earlier awarded Realty Appraisal almost a million dollars in the original case:
Schultz awarded $984,511 to Realty Appraisal in April when he ruled that Jersey City acted in bad faith when it backed out of a $3.2 million contract the West New York firm was awarded in 2011 to conduct the long-stalled citywide property revaluation. Mayor Steve Fulop halted all work on the reval when he was elected mayor in 2013 and stopped paying the firm.
Do remember this waste of over $100K when the Fulop Administration begs you to move the elections to November from May (When Jersey City gets a say on strictly Jersey City business) so he can lose in the governor's run and still run for mayor again in 2017, you know, change the law for one person. What's that you say? It'll save money according to the mayor's office? Well he just pissed more than the savings away because he's in over his head. That argument stops NOW.
