As if you didn't need another reason to hate the Trump/Kushner buildings
Did you know a lot of government and business people rigged the numbers to show that the area around the Trump/Kushner buildings was depressed and NEEDED to have those buildings there rather than Bergen-Lafayette or other poorer neighborhoods in JC where of course, Trump and Kushner would never want to build. Throw back a snort of whiskey before this one, it'll make you mad.

Countdown clocks throughout the MTA are a great idea, however...
Remember a while back they showed a football game where due to the use of certain colors, a lot of colorblind people, Johnny's their king, couldn't really see much of. Now, in looking at images of the new MTA countdown clocks on the L line, here we go again. Johnny cannot see, at all, the bottom Rockaway time in the first image. He had to get within inches of the screen to make it out. You're simply not going to have that opportunity in stations. Let's make sure a good idea works for everyone.

Happy Memorial Day!
The biggest respect is saved for the biggest heroes. Sadly, we're getting no leadership like this from our elected leaders, especially now. No honor, no sacrifice, certainly not like those who stood for this nation in the darkest corners of this globe, sometimes bleeding out and dying for all Americans in perpetuity with nobody there to help or thank them. Johnny's a very liberal guy but in his reading of the American contract you do not now or ever turn your back on a veteran. That is an iron clad contract. Today is about those vets who gave it all for all of us.
Thank you.
Thank you.

We can just list Cory Booker on Amazon at this point
There may be varying degrees of ratings and prices as he's been bought more than once on different platforms.
You'll recall in January we pointed out that while all the Democrats and even a few Republicans were on board with importing drugs to help keep prescription costs down for Americans being ripped off by nonsensical Big Pharma pricing games. Even Donald Fucking Trump brought up the idea while running for President. Not Cory Booker, he stood firm with over $55K in NJ Big Pharma money lining his pockets, no to importing drugs from Canada. Not that Booker had any proof of his claim, that we need to check and make sure these drugs are safe, as Johnny wrote at the time:
Let that sink in. At ANY point in the last few years did you read any articles online or see a teevee news report about a bunch of dead Canadians lying outside pharmacies or along Yonge Street in Toronto or on the prairies of Western Canada? Of course you didn't. These drugs are already safe, it's just an excuse for Sen. Booker.
If that kind of thing is wrong, this next part is disgraceful and possibly harmful to the security of the country -- yeah, it is. Leading Democrats in Washington D.C. as well as former CIA, FBI and national security experts believe at the very least Jared Kushner's Russian dalliances mean his security clearance should be reviewed and probably revoked at this point. The experts folks, the experts.
Know who thinks he needs to stand up for Jared Kushner AND his security clearance, (something when in doubt for Christ's sake should be double-checked) Cory Booker. Yep, Booker went to bat for Kushner after all we know and the experts have told us.
What's Senator Booker's reasoning for not wanting to chase down US/Russia espionage charges? Maybe the fact Jared and Ivanka Trump held two max out the donations fundraisers for Booker.
There you go. Cory's good friends Jared (Awwww, he went to Jared) and Ivanka lining his pockets full of campaign cash might do it, what do you think New Jersey? Democrats should be beyond mildly worried at this point with Booker's ability to make the wrong choices shortly after getting money from Big Pharma, Big Real Estate, Big Celebrity, et al.
We know from following the Senator on Twitter he likes inspirational quotes for certain situations. Here's one:
"Suppose you could gain everything in the whole world, and lost your soul. Was it worth it?"

See Spot Rescued just got some money
That's right, after the Jersey City Council's gutless and inexcusable to allow puppy mills continued access to Jersey City pet stores Johnny decided something positive needed to come from their dimwittedness. This morning, Johnny made a donation in EVERY City Council member's name to See Spot Rescued, the not puppy mill place (Of course you could use Liberty Humane Society as well, they're super good).
Maybe it has to come to that here in JC, other people making donations for your officials' poor decisions. Get ready to dig deep citizens.

We were going to cover other things tonight...
...that was until, for reasons unknown, the entire, and by entire we mean all 9 city council members, decided to vote against an ordinance introduced by Councilman Michael Yun that would have banned puppy mill puppies from being sold in Jersey City pet stores. Slam dunk in basketball, tap-in in golf, it's the easiest thing in the world to do the right thing and protect animals.
Nope.
All nine council members, all nine thought puppy mills were A-Ok (don't bother with technicalities about boutique breeds, such a minuscule number vs thousands of dogs and cats who can't get adopted, you're gonna lose that moral argument), or at least OK enough the sale of them is fine in Jersey City. It's beyond shameful. It's the most ashamed Johnny has ever been since he moved to Jersey City. The Humane Society has presented this same ordinance in hundreds of other places and it's been adopted in every single one, until now. It's beyond the pale.
It doesn't really matter if it gets reintroduced, it's not going to wipe the shame away of voting against the best interests of animals. Here are their names, if they're all in on their awful votes they won't mind this list, if it bothers any of them in the least, yeah, they know they fucked this up:
Council President-Rolando R. Lavarro, Jr.
Councilwoman at Large-Joyce Watterman
Councilman at Large-Daniel Rivera
Ward A (Greenville) Councilman-Frank Gajewski
Ward B (West Side) Councilman-Chris L. Gadsden
Ward C (Journal Square) Councilman-Richard Boggiano
Ward D (The Heights) Councilman-Michael Yun
Ward E (Downtown) Councilwoman-Candice Osborne
Ward F (Bergen/Lafayette) Councilman-Jermaine Robinson
As long as you serve you will never be free of this vote. By the way, Johnny's going to unleash hell upon you on the Twitter, gonna invite some animal rights groups to tell you why your vote sucked.
Nope.

Classic PSA night
A public service announcement, those age old scoldy commercials mostly trying to mold you, bunky, into a better citizen. You probably remember the famous Indian ad where he had trash thrown at him and he cried. PSA, advising us to stop this nonsense before it kills us all.
Well friends, here's a PSA about not just tossing your trash on the sidewalk when you're done with it, lest it draw RATS! A classic from David Lynch from 1991.

A well written editorial from a local business owner on the "ban no ban" on chain stores downtown
Aaron Morrill, owner of Two Boots Pizza (mea culpa, Johnny loves their food), took on the recent flip flop by the Fulop Administration over so-called chain stores and the 2015 ban placed on them downtown. Morrill rightly points out the evidence was there this plan would not work and why.
Also, thanks to Terrence T. McDonald who looked this up as Johnny couldn't find it in his notes; Rich Boggiano was the only council member to see this ban was the wrong idea. A good read on why facts and research must win the day over things that may sound great in theory, but just don't pass critical muster.
Good brunch reading.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with PETE TOWNSHEND!
Yes kids, today is pete Townshend's 72nd birthday and probably no artist living or dead has had more of a musical impact on Johnny than Mr. Townshend. Yeah, tonight is pretty much a love letter.
Johnny can be moody, certainly you've never noticed that before. Mr. Townshend's music seemed to always be the right remedy, up and ready to fight, deep and reflective, or a few songs for someone really down. They say Townshend spoke for a whole generation of awkward, angry, and mistrusting kids. Johnny was front row center. Johnny could go on and on and you'd get bored. 'I'm One' is a song that perfectly encompasses what Johnny's droning on about.

To say this album had an impact on Johnny would be an understatement. In a land before CD's he bought it three times. Yes, he wore them down, diamond needle and all, three times. He can sing it front to back and back to front. You better believe a track from Empty Glass is gonna make our Pete Townshend birthday card.
The brilliance of 'Gonna Get Ya' (Last song side 2). That's right, you swing that arm.

Sure, OK Johnny, Pete Townshend is truly one of the elite songwriters and guitar players of his generation. Some will say a good test of an artist is how they sound outside their own music. Give them someone else's music and see how well they represent.
Gladly, a cover from The English Beat, 'Save it for Later' that'll smash your expectations up all over the stage like a guitar.

Here's the kind of important story that gets lost in the big news wash
The New Jersey State Troopers are suing the makers of their service weapons as they say their very lives are in danger after far too many misfires:
The New Jersey State Police has sued a major firearms manufacturer, claiming the company gave state troopers defective guns and failed to fix the problem.
The state filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against Sig Sauer alleging the 3,000 guns it purchased from the company frequently jammed, making them "life-threatening" for troopers and virtually "inoperable."
A very disturbing story as nobody wants our cops out there with defective firearms, besides, we pay for this, we need to demand better.

Do you love autographs? Johnny loves autographs
He does of course ask for them in appropriate places, ie after shows or at a move/book/show event. Not while they're eating or just out enjoying life. That's their time but Johnny digresses...
If you'd like to get your favorite FBI agent's autograph, start hanging around Journal Squared or Trump Bay St. and simply look for those dullard cars with lights in the back to start pulling up. As we learned some of those shady B-5 visas Jared Kushner's sister was pretty much selling in China (That were used on Trump Bay St and the ask was on in China for J2) may have directly led to the firing of former FBI Director James Comey. Word is once Jared found out the FBI was looking into dodgy financing deals, and not just stupid shit Flynn and Manafort were up to, it sounds like he made wee wee:

Yep, once trouble is coming at you, make those solidly formed decisions and put them into motion, it's a family trait.
Be polite when you ask for your autographs, be prepared they could be too busy handcuffing someone or investigating the fountains of fuzzy math they could come across. Sometimes they do say no but sooner or later of you stand right outside J2 or Trump Bay St., you'll get your man...or woman.

Mayor Fulop running away from a real reporter with real questions
First off, what a fantastic article in the long form by Terrence T. McDonald. He digs deep and tells the entire story of how Mayor Fulop was once great pals with Jared Kushner and now how that relationship must either be broken or put in a back drawer somewhere with the White House acting as they do and Fulop running for reelection. Drink that good writing up.
Note too at the end the mayor simply can't handle real questions, unfiltered being asked of him. All your reporter questions must go through my spokesperson now.

While he doesn't have the full on catalog of Beatles music (The standards thanks) that he does of the Stones he truly enjoys a great Beatles song every now and then. Also, since he didn't burn himself out on them when they inundated the airwaves he really loves hearing them these days. Let's get ready for tomorrow's full on rain and wind show with 'Hello, Goodbye'. This clip looks like it was filmed sometime around Easter, no?

What's the official nickname of New Jersey? If Michigan is the Wolverine State, Ohio is the Buckeye State and New York is the Empire State what is New Jersey? The Garden State? Well, not officially. 12 JCPD officers in "stand around construction site jobs" tax scandal now suspended
12 Jersey City police officers have now been suspended (with pay) for their part in not paying taxes on those shameful standing around construction site "jobs". Terrence T. MacDonald not only has this minor update, he has a much bigger one to share as well. First the deck chair shuffling:
The officers have not been charged with a crime, and the city has declined to specify how they are related to the federal investigation into officers who worked private security jobs off duty. They were placed on modified duty and stripped of their guns in January.
Here's where McDonald really moves this story forward:
Law-enforcement sources say federal prosecutors are investigating whether some officers took improper payments directly from private companies for performing off-duty security. The companies are also under investigation, the sources say.
Very interesting. No doubt they're more interested in keeping their names out of the paper than pay penalties because they all have to move money to go to the toilet. If you do find out feel free to pass their names along to Johnny.

11 days in Jersey City, 4 homicides
Caitlin Mota with the Jersey Journal in some very good reporting got some troubling quotes from family members of the latest victim. The shooting at Woodlawn Ave between Corcoran and Van Cleef streets happened this afternoon. As helicopter hovered above and the body was covered with a white tent Mota heard some very chilling quotes which make this a much much bigger story.
Any family members and friends would be angry, sad, upset, raging, any number of emotions but those emotions turned out these quotes:
"It's not even summer yet," one resident said while sitting on his porch.
"Where the (expletive) were you when this happened?" one woman yelled to the authorities. "You're always out here busting for the wrong (expletive)."
Boy howdy you hope that doesn't become some kind of premonition about a long hot summer with residents mad at the JCPD for, in their opinion, concentrating on the wrong priorities. We'll all know soon enough but this is an article you put a star next to and refer back to.

Fulop forced to admit the Kushner/Journal Square abatements tainted
On both Twitter and Facebook this past weekend, Mayor Steve Fulop was forced (in part by yours truly who was first out of the box in criticisms over the burgeoning EB-5 scandal in JSQ last week, of course along with other watchdog groups) to openly admit the city would not be backing the Kushner abatement after video and still images came out of China of Jared Kushner relatives dropping his name to get funding for Journal Square properties (and according to CBS News the Trump buildings on Bay St. as well) where a large buy in gets an EB-5 visa to get a green card. Yeah, the Trump Administration is all about keeping people out, unless they can give him money.
So, good for Mayor Fulop for announcing this but it's too bad it took an outcry to get his announcement made public.
Ever vigilant Jersey City, we must always all be ever vigilant with our money.

While the bigger news agencies about town might just concentrate on the men's and women's leaders and winners, the race itself is about everyone in Jersey City and the surround who enjoy a good run, a great view, and and big-ass breakfast afterwards!
By the way friends, if you do see yourself in an image on this post of you that you like, it's yours, print it and have it framed. Happy to oblige.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with FATBOY SLIM!
This hot number is like the food pyramid; all the instrument groups are represented. You have your drum group, your rhythm guitar, your lead guitar and your keyboard/special effects. Most on loops but somehow it does all meld together into a fun little number. Five minutes fifteen of air-instrument practice coming up!
'Going Out of My Mind' batting second tonight.

The King of Surf Guitar, Dick Dale turns 80 today. Johnny has long said if he had theme music that played while he walked around and did stuff, it's be Dick Dale's 'Tidal Wave'
Time for Jersey City, After Dark
The JCPD is a D+ force in a B+ city
Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop likes to say he's trying to build his city into the best mid-sized city in America. Well, he's got the hard-working and creative residents to do it. He's certainly got the restaurants and food scene to make that happen. He's got the locale to be sure. Know what he lacks (and it's on him as well)? A top flight, or even mid-flight police department.
It's a wreck and right now if it were to get a grade it'd get a D+ and the + is generous. It's a crooked disgrace. A few years ago you'll recall this is the same department that was neck-deep in a steroid scandal. You've got a department right now that recently though it fully appropriate to pull police on actual patrol, ie really looking for bad guys, and made them stand around construction jobs utterly pointlessly FOR the developers. As for he stand around jobs, you'll also recall, at least 12 JCPD officers are in serious Dutch for lying or not reporting their wages from these gravy stand around "jobs."
It's a disgrace and friends, when you read this you'll get the idea just how bad the professional cancer has spread at the JCPD.
Ramon Lugo is preparing to sue Jersey City and dear readers, this reporter hopes he wins based on these facts. Follow us on this first part; On March 2nd, 32 year veteran JCPD Lt. Raymond Mahan was driving on Kennedy Blvd. in the wee hours of the morning and collided with Lugo's car at Kennedy and Bartholdi Avenue. In their report the JCPD wrote, and this is of vital importance:
According to an accident report, Mahan, driving south on Kennedy Boulevard at about 4 a.m., struck Lugo's Toyota Rav4 while Lugo was headed west on Bartholdi Avenue. After the collision, Mahan, driving a city-issued Chevrolet Malibu with a passenger inside, struck two cars parked on Kennedy Boulevard, according to the report. When investigating officers arrived at the scene, Mahan's car was found about four blocks away from the site of the initial collision, the report states.
Lugo was issued a summons for not stopping for an emergency vehicle. The accident report says Lugo told police he "noticed a dark color vehicle with emergency lights activated" but added because he had the green light "he thought he had enough time to make it through the intersection" before Mahan's car went through it.
Except that police report is utter bullshit, the cops made it all up to protect Boss Moss Mahan. Lugo, according to his attorney, was never even interviewed about the accident. JCPD just looked at whom Mahan was and the sham was on. No DUI test, no charges, no nothing (those may have to come AFTER the true facts came out, #SAD). Forget the fact he hit Lugo and two other vehicles, right off the hop the bad actors in the JCPD acted. The JCPD decided to make up the police report that put an innocent man on the hook for their boss. That's beyond the pale, it's dishonest, gutless and shameful. Lugo never saw any emergency lights because there were no emergency lights. Speaking of which, WHOM was riding with Mahan that night? A date? A friend? A relative? Hopefully they can get a correct story nailed down from them however doubtful.
When asked about this further malfeasance by this city's PD, Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill just kicked the can on all questions to the Hudson County prosecutor's office after a nothingburger comment back in March. Not at all surprising Morrill would punt, she always does when it comes to the JCPD that her boss is in charge of. More irresponsibility from Mr. Fulop's minions.
Where is Carmine Disbrow? The Police union spokesman is always running for a microphone to tell us just how hard his cops have it and how brilliantly they do their jobs, except of course when they don't. He can't keep his mouth shut except when of course his cops are the bad actors.
So there you go friends, the JCPD are not looking out for you in these cases. They'll close ranks and protect their own at every turn, Jersey City resident and taxpayers be damned. Best advice, stay out of the Jersey City Police Department's way when they are breaking the law.

Late night open thread
As happy as Johnny was to have the farmers market back on Monday he really loved Groove on Grove making it's 2017 debut today. Always great music in a nice, intimate setting AND they were selling beer and wine for the performance.
