A lot of people are not clearing their walks, ie a lot of millionaires

Why is it there are never tickets or fines issued to big developers who don't clear their sidewalks though they have all the money to do so. Johnny pointed out on Twitter that slumlord Jared Kushner hasn't done dick to clear his sidewalks downtown, and Washington between First St and Bay St. just sit untouched by Lloyd Goldman. Goldman is a repeat offender unless of course the city is now chipping in and doing his work for him.

It's bad enough when small property owners don't take care of their sidewalks, and the one and two-off unoccupied properties that the city has to handle and can never seem to catch up to these clown have the money to get it done. It's your safety they don't care about, remember this next time they want a tax abatement and tell you what great citizens they'll be in the future. They have a history to draw on right now and it ain't good.

Jersey City and the surround is under a Winter Storm Warning for tomorrow and Monday

#WinterStormCartman will begin as snow, sleet and rain tomorrow afternoon and pick up in intensity until it really gets going around midnight. We can expect 6-8" of snow but people, be careful, this will be heavy March snow. Heart attack while shoveling heavy. Please use caution.

Hey Jersey City, how would a statute like this grab you?

Brooklyn Councilman David Greenfield has an idea he's floating in NYC to cut down on property owners who simply refuse to clear their sidewalks (and note in the picture just whom owns that property) and Johnny personally would love to see this kind of thing adopted in Jersey City. Here's how Greenfield's plan would work:

"...Greenfield is proposing a law that would empower city-contracted laborers to shovel sidewalks that remain buried under snow, and then bill property owners $250 for the service.

If the bill becomes law, the city would hire more seasonal snow laborers, paying them $12 to $18 an hour to shovel sidewalks, the News reports. "My constituents were sick and tired of walking down the street and slipping and falling because some obnoxious homeowner has decided that they're exempt from cleaning their ice." 

Pretty straightforward AND job creating. If you won't shovel the city will and YOU will pay. We like that.

WTF Jersey City?! Clean your goddamned sidewalks

Dear business owners, property owners, construction companies who have bought a property, parking lot owners, and anyone else with a sidewalk. It's YOUR responsibility to clean that mess up. Stop acting like its not. Business after business without a clean walk, construction companies actually making sidewalks worse, this city is a wreck. We've heard nothing from the city on this. At least Healy's folks would try to shame people into cleaning their walks.

Johnny's neighbors last night came up with some wonderful revenge ideas for property, construction and business owners who don't clean their walks. Some suggested online whisper campaigns about business cleanliness which is devilish and a good hammer to make them comply. Property owners might wanna clean their walks because some of THOSE ideas went beyond devilish.

The citizens are fed up and those responsible can clear the way or deal with the citizen initiated blowback.

We're loathe to talk about the weather again but #WinterStormCupid cometh!

We've ALL had enough winter this year but Garden Staters when you remain tough and vigilant, the victory of April will be that much sweeter.

So yes, #WinterStormCupid (Of course Johnny is calling it Cupid and not the stupid other name the Weather Channel is using, it's almost Valentine's Day!) will arrive sometime tomorrow afternoon/early evening and bring upwards of 8 inches of ice, snow then more ice. Here's the word from the National Weather Service:

In a briefing issued at 4:30 p.m. today, the weather service's office in Mount Holly warned: "A strong coastal storm system is expected to impact the region starting Wednesday night & continuing into Thursday."

The storm could threaten New Jersey with "heavy snow, icing due to freezing rain, and coastal flooding," the weather service said, adding that "8+ inches of snow are expected where the heaviest snow band sets up."

Be brave New Jersey, be stronger than the winter storm.

Hey hey, everyone loves some snow on a Saturday when you don't have to be anywhere so settle in and get ready for #WinterStormBozo and the roughly six inches of snow it'll bring by tonight. After midnight we'll start getting the ice and rain portion of the storm.

Because the drive home tomorrow could be worse, much worse. Tuesday afternoon looks to bring Hudson County and the surround 1-3" of snow. The snow will begin in the late morning and go through mid-afternoon. Do plan accordingly and welcome to your work weeks.

It looks like we didn't get hit as badly as predicted. Hats off to the Jersey City road crews, looks like they did another great job. The snowy pup is Ollie, a pooch Johnny met on his walk this morning. How cute is he? Dogs and snow are always a winning picture.

So hats off to all those who cleaned our streets and kept the PATH running with only a ten minute delay. All you guys and gals get a Jersey City Desk tip of the chapeau. We also noticed some PRIVATE snow contractors working around 5 am this morning. We like this idea. They live for this stuff!

We're gonna get about 4-6 inches of snow in the next 24 hours. Clean your sidewalks. Be a good neighbor, handle your responsibilities and shovel and or salt your walks. It's that simple...
