Newark schoolkids, about 150 in number, have taken over an intersection there to protest 'One Newark'

Newark schoolkids have decided they do not like nor want the controversial One Newark school plan being implemented city-wide. About 150 of them are currently having their voices heard by sitting down in the intersection of Broad Street and Raymond Boulevard. The student union leader had this to say:

Newark Student Union President Kristin Towkaniuk said the group plans to stay until Superimtendent Cami Anderson meets their demands, which include her resignation.

The students chanted "no justice no peace."

Towkaniuk advised the students to not resist arrest if it comes to that.

"Stay confident," she said into a blow horn. "Don't be intimidated."

While students spoke their true feelings the Newark schools Assistant Superintendent Brad Haggerty released a typical corporate-speak statement saying, “we are supportive of our students expressing their views on important issues and remain committed to continuing discussions with those who have concerns. However, every minute of instructional time counts and we must unite as a community in delivering this message to our youth."

Or, in the common tongue because so many are so mad we're letting this go but we want everyone to shut up and fall in line goddammit.
