How easily cops are allowed to cover up the stupid shit they do

It's hard to tell cops they're not some kind of fourth branch of government when a roughhousing/stabbing can pretty much be swept under the rug even though it took place in a county building.

Officials have been mostly mum on the mid-August incident, but multiple police sources told The Jersey Journal the incident involved Andrew Conti Jr., a sheriff's investigator who is a son of Undersheriff Andrew Conti. The elder Conti retired as captain in 2008 and was rehired as an undersheriff in 2011.

Conti Jr. and at least one other officer were horsing around near the entrance of the building, sources said and at some point, he took out a knife and stabbed the other officer in the hand. While the officer's injuries weren't said to be serious, he was treated at a hospital, sources said.

Please, go read the article if you want your blood pressure to jump -- the public can't know as cops weren't officially called to the scene (even though you can bet taxpayer dollars were used on to pay for the insurance that treated "the other officer's" wounds.

As the song almost goes, "The County, they all went along for the ride..."

Johnny's been following the fiery crash

Ever since the night it happened (remember, Johnny has a listening station and can hear anyone anytime) he's been following and letting things play out vs what was first reported. He knew he didn't want to write a big story after he heard excellent Jersey Journal reporter Caitlin Mota report the JCPD weren't exactly being forthcoming with how the chase started and how it wound through the streets. He smelled something bad. Then came the punitive claw-back of new JCPD SUV's from those involved with the crash. Then came the kicking video. Then today Mayor Fulop really took a stand for what we believe is right. We have our differences with the mayor but we back him 100% on this.

We're going to have whole write up now that the facts have played out and Johnny really has a full plate to work with. It's really not going to be pretty for the JCPD.

11 days in Jersey City, 4 homicides

Caitlin Mota with the Jersey Journal in some very good reporting got some troubling quotes from family members of the latest victim. The shooting at Woodlawn Ave between Corcoran and Van Cleef streets happened this afternoon. As helicopter hovered above and the body was covered with a white tent Mota heard some very chilling quotes which make this a much much bigger story.

Any family members and friends would be angry, sad, upset, raging, any number of emotions but those emotions turned out these quotes:

"It's not even summer yet," one resident said while sitting on his porch.

"Where the (expletive) were you when this happened?" one woman yelled to the authorities. "You're always out here busting for the wrong (expletive)."

Boy howdy you hope that doesn't become some kind of premonition about a long hot summer with residents mad at the JCPD for, in their opinion, concentrating on the wrong priorities. We'll all know soon enough but this is an article you put a star next to and refer back to.

Here's the latest on the triple murder on Fulton Ave yesterday, none of it good

Caitlin Mota at the Jersey Journal who has been covering the triple shooting murder on Fulton Ave., which she now reports was part of a drug robbery gone wrong. Mota has even more on the murders, the victims, and a possible lead in the case in the form of a U-Haul trailer.

This is awful, let's hope it doesn't have legs.

Another bad week of gun violence in Jersey City

Two more people were shot this morning in the Marion Gardens public housing complex which bring this week's total to eleven and three in the last two days. Caitlin Mota with the Jersey Journal has all the details on all the shootings in what was another bad week in a very bad summer of gun violence.

This is exactly why a strong neighborhood association is a good thing

Because it's the only way you're going to stop city hall when they decide to impose something upon your neighborhood. Caitlin Mota at the Jersey Journal sure didn't bury the lead:

A controversial plan to locate a prisoner re-entry program next door to Sacred Heart School was scrapped Monday night after nearly 200 people showed up to voice their opinions on it.

This plan was pushed on the neighborhood by the Fulop Administration who have egg on their faces and most noticeably former Governor Jim McGreevey who was asked to leave a community meeting he decided to show up at to push the plan and the neighborhood association was having none of it. A former governor and a wannabe governor both shut down by the association. Well done and if your neighborhood doesn't have an association, put one together.

This plan really helped enforce the idea that the Fulop Administration doesn't care much for the predominantly African-American neighborhoods according to Earl Morgan. Click here to get his take on the issue.
