Should these brave Jersey City residents succeed in their recall efforts, not only would Mayor Healy lose his job but also Council President Peter Brennan, At-Large Councilman Mariano Vega and Ward C Councilwoman Nidia Lopez. The wording is now approved and the real work of getting petition signatures will begin before too long. 30,000 valid signatures would be necessary to recall Healy, Brennan and Vega and about 4,200 to recall Lopez.
No doubt those at city hall who hate the hassle of answering to voters are plotting their dirty tricks to void the petition gathering.

It took THIS long to start a recall of Mayor Healy?
OK, so Johnny didn't start it either so he's as much to blame but hats off to Jersey City residents John Lynch, Riaz Wahid and Martha Larkins who sent a letter to the city clerk's office to announce their intentions.
Mayor Kwame Healy of course had no comment, or rather his spokesman had no comment, the mayor is busy and has no time for such questions about his competency.
Wahid told the Jersey Journal "I believe the people of Jersey City deserve leadership that is committed to aiding us in our day-to-day struggles, I have grown frustrated seeing my taxes go up with nothing to show for it." You tell 'em Riaz. We agree.
We'd owe these fine upstanding citizens our thanks for taking on Healy's job but there's more to this story. The group is ALSO going after Ward A Councilman Michael Sottolano, Ward C Councilwoman Nidia Lopez, Ward D Councilman Bill Gaughan, and Ward F Councilwoman Viola Richardson. GIDDYUP kids, you go!
Honest and hard working members of the Jersey City Council, Ward E Councilman Steven Fulop and Ward B Councilman David Donnelly are NOT on the list to be recalled as they provide valuable and HONEST representation.
When you notify Nidia Lopez about the recall effort put extra postage on the letter, it's going to Florida.
Johnny wants to know when and where petitions will be available to be signed off on, you can advertise here for free.

The out and out ARROGANCE of Mayor Healy, Mariano Vega, Viola Richardson and others in is on display over free city vehicles
FOX NY has put pretty much everyone involved in Jersey City politics, from Mayor McCheese to every city council member (again EXCEPT Steve Fulop) in their Hall of Shame over city vehicles that council members refuse to give up even after tagging the rest of us with a tax increase. Indicted pinhead Mariano Vega even ADMITS taking his 'city business only' Jeep out to the Catskills.
Not only do these sense of entitlement luddites think that a car for a part time job is a birthright, they will NOT stand for any kind of sticker on the vehicle owned by the city that says "Jersey City Business only" so taxpayers could see if a city vehicle spends a lot of time hanging outside bars, shopping centers and or being driven down Bradley Beach way (Mayor Healy anyone?) or to the Catskills (Indicted Vega anyone?). The situation is so ridiculous that when Mariano Vega was indicted for taking bribes and lost his county issue vehicle, he just asked Mayor Kwame Healy for one and it was GIVEN to him.
Citizens, the time has come. These people have shown they hold the voters and residents of this city in the highest contempt. They feel the ONLY time they answer to people is on election day (and as we learned after election day one city council person, Nidia Lopez is actually a Florida resident yet we pay for her ride). Well THE HELL WITH THIS.
From now on when you see a city council member with their Jeep or other city issued vehicle, follow them around with your camera phone. Take movies and take pictures of the actual 'city business' they find themselves on. Hound them until they can't stand the sight of you. Don't be afraid to get in their faces, this is just as much YOUR city as it is theirs. DO NOT be afraid to stand up to these little Napoleans. Take those images, take those videos and send them here, we'll HAPPILY publish our crooked city council (again apologies to Steve Fulop who is NOT one of them) wasting OUR money as they see fit. Better yet, if you see one of them taking their city owned cars shopping to to Target or anywhere else, CONFRONT THEM. Get in their faces, give them not a minutes peace. If they don't like it tell them hard cheese.
Let's remind our mayor and city council who runs Bartertown. Next up, a ballot initiative to permanently take away city cars for council members and the mayor. The trains work just fine here in Jersey City.
City government in Jersey City can start paying attention to it's residents or there are ways to make sure they do.
As V said to Evey in the movie 'V for Vendetta': "People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people."

Justice fails us all
A small potatoes judge, Maurice Gallipoli, has ruled that Nidia Lopez or Nidia Boehringer as she is also known as can keep her Jersey City council seat despite using her official Florida residence as a New Jersey tax dodge. Remember Jersey City, Nidia has no problems asking YOU to pay higher taxes to lives here and get services here while she claims a Florida residence as her own so she doesn't pay taxes in Jersey City herself.
We're working up a full and complete background on the judge in this case so come next election day THEY can beat cheeks down to Florida to live, maybe next to Nidia Boehringer.

A pancake breakfast to help Norrice Raymaker continue her court battle against Nidia Lopez
Look, the Jersey City Desk has been quite clear in it's disdain for Nidia Lopez's antics in trying to benefit from living in Florida for the tax issue and not paying taxes here in Jersey City while voting FOR more taxes for the rest of us. Well the person who is fighting the good fight to once and for all prove Lopez is a Florida resident and unable to legally and properly serve as the Ward C councilperson, Norrice Raymaker, is holding a pancake breakfast to raise money to continue her legal battle.
If you'd like to help her cause or are looking for a syrup injection system, the website www.onejerseycity.org can help you buy tickets to Zap's Bar and Restaurant, 153 Oakland Ave. for this Sunday's event. From 10 til noon you'll be able to drop $15 for the cause ($10 for seniors while kidlets 10 and under wolf down Johnnycakes--love that name--for free) and get your eat on.
See you there, aloha!

Nidia Lopez's attorney tries the old "trust us" defense
"But your honor, you simply have to trust us, we'd never intentionally do anything wrong. Trust us, just throw this silly case out."
In one of THE worst defense claims ever that Nidia Lopez and or Nidia Boehringer is indeed a resident, Lopez's attorney William Northgrave used the old "but she had more votes than the other candidates combined". Oh, and the reason she stayed registered to vote in Florida? Well she simply thought if she registered in New Jersey that it would cancel out the Florida registration. If only the fact she hadn't paid New Jersey taxes in three years and that she used a home in Florida listed as her primary residence since 1997 to get big tax breaks weren't such a sticky issue.
Mrs Lopez/Boehringer, step down, we don't want you as a councilperson, you're obviously trying to get over on Jersey City and the state of New Jersey by not paying taxes, just go. Head back down to Florida where you seem to want to be anyway.

Yes Jersey City, Nidia Lopez is all about our fair city, unless you ever ask her to pay taxes here
Once again we find a twist in the Nidia Lopez story. As we all know by now in the soap opera named 'As the Third Ward Council Member Turns' there are real questions about just WHERE Lopez is a resident. She has a dual residence in Florida where she has been voting and using to escape paying taxes in Jersey City (Florida coincidentally has no income tax) and NOW we come to find out Nidia Lopez has an entirely second PERSONA, one of a Nidia Boehringer.
Isn't that precious Jersey City? So long as she can have a second persona in Florida and get away with paying no taxes she's all about supposedly representing jersey City as part of 'Team Healy' and voting YOU higher taxes she herself never intends to pay.
This is beyond disgraceful. Nidia Lopez or Nidia Boehringer or whomever she is this week needs to go, NOW, by hook or by crook. Just another example of Team Healy's 'Change we can see'. Yeah, we can see the change in in this case means voting for higher taxes as long as you doesn't ever have to pay them.
Go. Now.

So, we're gonna have us a trial over Nidia Lopez's legal residence, Jersey City
Superior Court Judge Maurice Gallipoli has decided runner up in Ward C Jimmy King isn't a sore loser after all. Judge Gallipoli has set October 26th as the date he wants to hear arguments in court, after depositions and full legal rigamarole, over whether or not Nidia Lopez is actually a real Jersey City resident.
Lopez's attorney, Bill Northgrave argued that King only had 30 days after the election to make his complaint. This is where it gets really really juicy. King made the argument that Lopez goes by several names in City Hall records. The Jersey Journal Political Insider takes is from there:
It is King's argument that Lopez has several names and that was why it was hard to find information. There was a Nidia Rivera, a Nidia Boehringer and a Nidia A. Boehringer. Some of the names were linked to properties in Jersey City, including one in Ward E, with phone numbers in Florida, according to sources.
Mayor Healy can't look at this as a good thing. Theres every chance his hand picked teammate is about to be found out as a fraud and someone who owes a huge amount of money to the state of Florida in back taxes.

Here, wait, in stories dealing with Nidia Lopez's excuse list we now need calliope music
Listen to this while reading her ridiculous and pathetic claims to Florida officials she lives there really while she's a city council person here in Jersey City worthy of voting us all tax increases (all while she lives in Florida though so she can get great tax breaks).
"Up until March of 2008, Orlando has been my real home"
"I couldn't keep going back and forth all the time, and I got a new husband [Hudson County Director of Family Services Ben Lopez], so I live up there (Jersey City) now."
"But this (Orlando) is my home too. All my clothes are here"
When asked to clarify these comments made on the record to Orlando Sentinel reporter Rich McKay, Mrs. Lopez said:
"I was misquoted"
Can we initiate some kind of recall process since Nidia Lopez doesn't seem to be moving towards disqualifying herself any time soon? This is a city-wide joke and it's spreading.

The Nidia Lopez story just gets more pathetic
She's been voting in both states, Florida and New Jersey, apparently she just got her New Jersey drivers license after she won the election in May and there is still the matter of some wrongly claimed tax credits she was filing in Florida when she supposedly lived here. According to the state of Florida Ms. Lopez has committed a few felonies.
C'mon, the city won't fall apart if you step down Ms. Lopez, do the right thing. Integrity matters and you don't seem to have a lot of that right now. Still no comment from someone other than your lawyers on this. Do the right thing, before you vote on city business, Ward C deserves someone better and obviously more committed to upholding higher standards.

The Nidia Lopez story just got a WHOLE lot more shady
Ward C Councilwoman Nidia Lopez, who is being challenged by runner up in May's election Jimmy King for not being a Jersey City resident has now been proven to be registered to vote in BOTH New Jersey and Florida according to state officials in both places. Florida is also asking Lopez to return a state homestead tax credit she claimed for being a resident in Florida.
Ms. Lopez, this is really no way to begin a career in Jersey City politics. It actually sounds like you're trying to pull one over on Florida state officials and voters here in Jersey City. You've got some 'splainin' to do, Lucy....

Ward C Council kafuffle: Runner up in May's election Jimmy King wants to know if winner Nidia Lopez is a real Jersey City resident
King is making the claims that the Ward C ballots should be tossed and either a new election be held or he be declared the winner. In a move we find somewhat strange, Lopez would not talk to the Jersey Journal about the claims she is a real Florida resident, not a real legal resident of Jersey City. Through a spokesperson Lopez claims the charges are just lies from the Manzo team she helped defeat.
King makes the following claims: Lopez owns a home in Florida under a different name, Nidia Boehringer. On this home King says Lopez has received 9 years of tax abatements ONLY available to state residents. King also says Lopez has a Florida drivers license and is registered to vote in the Sunshine State.
Interesting charges. Even more curious we find is Lopez's refusal to address them and instead attack Team Manzo. Is Nidia Lopez hiding something? We'd sure like to get that cleared up before she starts actually voting on issues that affect Ward C.
