Powerhouse Arts District is on the move

Johnny, on one of his morning walks through Jersey City is really amazed at all the construction in the Powerhouse Arts District (PAD). Today the property at 150 Bay St. is being carved up to create first floor businesses, actually being carved and opened so that new business can hopefully break out in Jersey City. We'd love to see what's planned to go into 150 Bay St. (It'll most likely try to look like it's neighbor building across Provost at 140 Bay that has loft condos with first floor businesses). It looks like the property at 140 Bay St. got it right so here's hoping 150 Bay St. can emulate it's neighbor.

There is an awful lot of construction going on in the PAD, with the Powerhouse Arts Building itself undergoing renovations. We're all for this. We'd rather not see a garish 50 floor condo building spring up in PAD like the Trump Tower, but would love to see all those old warehouses refurbished.

Too bad Detroit is so broke - there's a boatload of vacant warehouse space that could be converted to cool housing. Of course, it helps to have a job to pay for said housing.

Yeah, it would sure be nice for some kind of urban revival like was close to happening around 2000 but for whatever reason died out.

Thanks MCA, that's great! 150 Bay is such a cool old building as are the surrounding warehouses. I got to watch the World Cup final in a two or three story (sorry my memory fails me) warehouse directly behind 150 Bay across 1st St. I was amazed at how cool that place was inside.

Hey, Anyone live in 150 Bay? We are looking into moving there and would love some honest feedback!
