Tonight fans a little something different on the music series. Tonight is a look back, waaaay back into American music and it's influence going forward.
There are a lot of people who think the rock and roll beat can in fact be traced back to Louis Jordan. But Johnny you say, that's a bold claim. Indeed it is. Tell you what. Play this song, the American standard 'Caldonia', and then go pick a song by another guy credited with inventing the rock and roll sound, Chuck Berry, and we'll bet you can hear a little of Louis Jordan in it.
Oh, and no, nobody's living room has been this utterly cool since this was filmed.
