First things first, if you're a cynic like Johnny and you've met television producers who have shared the incredible sleazy things they'll do to pump a show it'll sure make one wonder about this weekend's "Jersey Shore Walk of Shame."
The show's ratings had been dropping. People had grown tired of the incessant stupidity of the same thing week after week. So, if you're MTV what do you do? You run a spin-off show which as we all know was filmed here in Jersey City with Snooki and JWOWW to help breathe life into a flogging moneymaker. Oops, Snooki is pregnant. No fun time party girls going crazy in and around NYC. That had to hurt. Worse for MTV that had to hurt the bankbook.
So the brand is damaged, rating are down, the new spin-off hasn't aired yet and MTV needs to get people back on board with the regular Jersey Shore show being filmed in Seaside Heights. Suddenly, in the span of a weekend we find out show member Deena Cortese was arrested for disorderly conduct and as if on cue Snooki has some naked pictures surface online.
It's almost too much to be believed unless you're a true cynic like Johnny. Maybe the Jersey City show could be renamed Topless Snooki, MTV would get their ratings back and certain people at 280 Grove St. would be happy for the "any publicity is good publicity angle" they seem to be on board with.
