It was a mere 206 years ago today that former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton died in Greenwich Village after being shot in the famous duel with Vice President of the United States Aaron Burr in Weehawken the day before. Street crime in Weehawken was out of hand in those colonial days. Carjackings, crack, prostitution, Weehawken led the infant United States of America in crime. You couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting guys dueling.
One wonders though as to why Alexander Hamilton is on the $10 bill, after all he lost. In America we like winners on our money.
