Free Steven Slater!

Spectacular. That's how some are describing his "take this job and shove it" moment yesterday at JFK airport. For those who may not have heard, Slater was (we're guessing was as this is just too classic for him to keep his job no doubt) a flight attendant on Jet Blue airlines. As a plane from Pittsburgh was taxied up to the terminal yesterday a female passenger decided she wasn't waiting like everyone else to get her bags from the overhead. She decided she was too good for everyone else. As he was trained to do, Slater asked the woman to wait to get her bags from the overhead. Slater was met with a "F*ck You" from the woman who continued to rummage around the overhead until her bag came down hitting Slater in the head. He asked for an apology and was again met with a profanity (supposedly "motherf*cker").

That was pretty much it for Slater who walked back to the cabin PA system and announced "To the passenger who called me a motherf*cker, f*ck you... I've been in the business 28 years. I've had it. That's it."

Then came one of the coolest "I quit" moments in all of "I quit."

Slater grabbed two beers from the beverage area, opened the emergency exit, activated the emergency exit slide and slid away to freedom. Slater allegedly ran across the tarmac, ran inside, tore off his tie and then grabbed the AirTrain monorail to the JetBlue parking lot and was gone.

This is a new kind of awesome we tell ya.

Slater was later arrested at his home in Queens and charged with reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
