The Jersey City Desk, doing our part to keep you alive in NYC

Our friends at the Car Connection are reporting on some some interesting data via the NYC Transportation Dept. on pedestrian/car accidents and these findings might just keep you out of a NYC hospital.

Look out for male drivers, they're more likely to run you down in New York. Think that male will be a cabbie? Wrong bucko. They are less likely to hit you. They ARE professionals after all. Did you know if you jaywalk you are less likely to be hit in an intersection? It's a fact. But before you decide to make a career of jaywalking this too is a fact, if you're hit while jaywalking the injuries tend to be far more serious. And this:

"the study authors recommend, you take the sidewalk in the direction of traffic, as left-hand vehicle turns were particularly deadly for pedestrians."

It's not our business to tell you how to move along in the Big Appletini but the article is quite a good read and might give you a heads up BEFORE somebody yells "heads up" and your unfortunate accident winds up on YouTube.

Speaking of which...
