Sad news this morning -- New York Rangers enforcer Derek Boogaard dead at 28 years old

One of the real battleships when it came to fighters protecting the skilled players Boogaard, nicknamed the 'Boogeyman', passed away in his apartment in Minneapolis. 28 years old. So sad. Way too soon for anyone to leave.

He played most of his career with the Minnesota Wild where the 6'8" 255 lb. Boogaard built his fearsome reputation. From the Rangers press release:

“Derek was an extremely kind and caring individual,” said New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather. “He was a very thoughtful person, who will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and teammates during this difficult time.”

Sad.
